As the title states, "What knife surprised you the most?" for me it is those times when a certain knife was just never on my radar due to style, size, make, steel, scales etc etc...and recently my friend @DocJekl had sent along this Case Muskrat as a gift, not a knife that I ever gave a second glance at when perusing those places that carry sharp steely items ;) but when I got it I took and sharpened it up, as I am want to do with most knives that arrive, and was very pleased with how well it performed, Case notorious for softer heat treatment of their knives this one took a nice toothy edge and seems to keep it longer than most that I've owned. That's a good thing ;) and the blades are very handy with they're slim hollow ground pointy narrowness and are able to reach in and cut when you don't have much room to wield a blade any larger. Thanks again Doc, it rides daily in my watch pocket!

which Buck is that? I like it.

I bought my first Tuff Lite on a whim to get over the hump for free shipping one day. Not the prettiest thing, but turned out to be one of the more handy and useful knives I own. It”s with me all the time.
Same for me! I bought it for work but I noticed it's functionally the best work knife I've ever had. It's almost the perfect knife for me.

The Spyderco Farid K2. It is huge and awesome but It feels like handling a lawnmower blade. Love/hate

The CRK Inkosi. It isn’t new but it is taking forever to break in. My thumb is pretty tough from work but it tears it up.

The Benchmade Bailout in M4. It is incredibly thin and light but is a lot of knife.

The Spyderco Native. Half the blade is choil. I bought one when they first came out and still have it but quit carrying it when I got something else. Then I bought a native salt and had to sell it because it bugged me.

You should check out the Civivi Chevalier, if you haven't already. Reminds me of the Malibu. Great knife.
The Civivi Cogent in 14C28N is great, too. 14C28N is one of my favorite steels. The only advantage I see that the Malibu has over the Cogent is that the Malibu is available in Magnacut, but I do not think that Magnacut is worth 4 times the price.

I’ve not seen the T1 does it go by any other name?
And the Sokoke just plain works, for me at least

Ok found what the Kizer T1 looks like and it does look like a nice solid knife for sure, I prefer a little more straight edge and a curve near the tip myself

I wanted to try a sebenza and bought a 25. I was surprised by how much I hated it. The thumb-stud was irritating as a thumbtack in my shoe. The edge vanished quickly too. I think it was run too soft. I really tried to love it. I couldnt.

My latest purchase - Gerber strongarm. Didn't pay much for it and wasn't expecting too much (was more a purchase out of curiosity). FnF good, steel absolutely fine, cuts and carves better than I expected. I have quite a lot of knives, from cheap to fairly expensive and for a cheap knife it works very well imo.

I finally broke down and bought a Pena X Series. It's the Urban EDC Seigaiha Wave pattern Caballero. I liked the design and figured I'd try one out. When it arrived it was smaller than I was expecting, but after about 10 minutes in hand I got it! This has to be the most perfect front flipper I've ever experienced. The jimping is grippy, but not the least bit uncomfortable. I can flip it for hours. That and for the small size the ergos are perfect. I can get a full four finger grip on it. Very pleasantly surprised by this knife. It goes right near the top of my gentleman's knife rotation which was completely unexpected.

I guess I will list my bad surprise...

Case Marilla flipper. I own dozens of traditional Case folders, but more as collectibles, but a few that I carry. I was excited when they offered a modern folder, especially with s35vn. It was trash. The lockbar is aluminum with a small steel insert which has trouble staying aligned with the blade. After a week, the lock bar was getting stuck on the wrong side of the blade.

I returned it to the store I bought it from, exchanged it for an identical model, had it 2 weeks, and the steel insert for the lock bar fell completely out. Returned it to the store again, and this time got a benchmade presidio 2.

I may never buy another Case.
