For me, Gil pro thrower. although i only spend $27 but i felt it is a waste. Seriously have no place to throw around. Have it, sit at closet, every time I look at it, i always have to ask myself "why you buy it."

Pretty much useless and no resell value. regreted ever since.

Holy damn, like 2/3rds of my collection. I'm trying to get rid of a lot of it right now actually...

Just a bunch of cheaper stuff I "wanted", not even wanted so bad that I "needed" it.

The only knife I bought where I felt like I'd wasted money and had that sick feeling in my stomache was a Desert Knifeworks Sandshark. I got a pretty good price on it (especially since it was #16 ever made), but I was expecting so much more of a knife than I actually got. It was a cool knife, but my Scarab was so much better and cost less.

The sick feeling lasted about 3 days until I sold the Sandshark for $50 more than I paid. :D

I've bought a few knives, often on impulse, that I'm somewhat indifferent to now, but I never had that sick feeling that I'd wasted money.

I'll play: The first knife I bought at my first knife show. No, this wasn't a GUN and knife show, this was the Shenandoah (sp?) Valley knife show. It was my first, and I bought a folder that the guy (listed as a custom maker- even a member of the knifemaker's guild I believe- ) said he had made. It had Giraffe bone scales and was very pretty, but it looked familiar. I was new to knives, and didn't really know all that much at the time. He had another folder on his table which was a DDR kit knife. I asked if the Giraffe bone scaled knife was a kit knife, and he assured me that it wasn't. I bought it like a gimp and took it home. THEN I was cruising around the internet and found out that it was in fact a DDR knife. I passed up a small fixed blade that was a TRUE custom to get this thing. While I like the scales, the blade sucks and doesn't get sharp. I can't even try to sell it because it's not really a custom knife, its just a finished kit knife (imagine the love you get for trying to sell THAT!!!). I don't carry it and don't even really like it that much anymore, and always wish I'd kept my money. Haven't been to a knife show since either. Live and learn I guess, but I hate the fact that I was lied to when I asked a point-blank question. I may have bought the knife anyway when he said "yes," but it would have been nice to have that choice to make.

I bought a (UC) Samurai 3000 sword from smkw when I was younger and didnt know any better. as soon as I got it, I knew better instantly.
I sold it to my friend, for half the money I spent, and he likes it, despite my constant warnings about how it isnt a real sword & how he should never try to cut stuff. Before that, I bought a UC dagger at a swapmeet and overpaid @ $18. It was a POS with a plastic handle with a fake green jewel inlay and junksteel blade. I gave that one to my sister to keep in her car, but some moron stole it, and used it to stab holes in peoples tires. It now might be in some evidence locker, I could only hope it has been thrown in the trash. I have learned my lesson so well that it now sickens me when I see a friend make a foolish knife purchase.

Aloha brah!

LMAO!!! Sounds like my early days...bought a ton of Frost Cutlery stuff! However...back in the day, it wasn't that bad! At least not as bad as the Pakistani stuff I broke! :D

God bless and good to see you!

Funny you should ask.Camillus Lev-R-Lock.There happens to be a thread about it here now.Blade play is hilarious. At least it was cheap. :thumbdn:

I must admit I own a lot off knives, and my Buck Protege is the wost product ever bought. Doesn't feel right, won't stay sharp an is not handy in use. To expensive and just trown away.

Like previous posters I bough a handmade custom at a knife show, it was OK, but later found out I payed twice it's normal price.

I bought a Busse Active Duty, for some reason I thought it would be a light saber. It's a nice knife, but it's no light saber.

In general I discovered a couple of years ago I have no use for fixed blades, so I sold all I had off and haven't bought more.

I bought an A.G. Russell folding gent's hunter once, it cost $100 and since I've always had good luck there I ordered it. Once I got it, I was badly disappointed. I was prepared for a basic folder, just micarta slabs with no liners and a blade made of good steel. However, the slabs were ill-fitted and gaps could be seen between the back and the slabs. The blade was not ground evenly and the point was off to the right. For a $50 or even $60 knife I'd overlook it, but for such a basic design I was expecting a pretty high level of fit and finish at the $100 level. Luckily A.G.'s guarantee is as good as gold and I sent it back for a Strike Force folder which IMO is a much much better knife at the same price. Interestingly, in the next catalog those folding gent's hunters were priced $15 less. My guess is they had one bad batch.

I have a couple of top-end folders that I wish I had not bought. They are a large classic Sebenza and a DDR Madd Maxx custom. It's not that they are bad knives, it's just that I discovered that, to me, folders are strictly for using, not collecting, and now that I am retired and live in jeans, my Rat Trap and Camillus EDC meet all my folder needs. If I was still working, though, I would carry the Sebenza in my suit as it is more "dressy".

My collectors, and most of my users, are all Busse and Swamp Rat fixed blades.

Fortunately I got both the Sebenza and the DDR at great prices, and should not have any problems recouping my cost.

They included green micarta handle, brass guard, and stainless steel blade. I got it and was a little dissappointed. It was a nice knife, but I guess stainless as an option and brass guard were underwhelming.

Overall I wasn't impressed and sold it on that big online auction site for just about what I paid for it.

I'm not going to include the cheap Paki and Chinese crap that most of us bought in our early days of knife nuttiness. Most of my regrettable purchases were impulse buys, but the biggest were these:

1. Ebay from a novice custom maker. Still have it because I can't in good conscience dump it on some other collector. Terrible fit and finish and design. I'd just gotten off the cheapo crap but still didn't know what I wanted.

2. Busse Assault Shaker. Way too thick and blunt for that size and what I needed. Luckily I was able to resell it pretty easily.

3. Custom knife from an experienced maker at a my first knife show. Again more of a novice mistake. The knife wasn't that good for the price.

4. Big puukko type knife from these Scandinavian makers at the NYCKS. It was a comedy of errors since I didn't want it and thanked the maker for letting me handle it. He thought I was thanking him because of the price he gave and proceeded to happily wrap it up. His friends were congratulating him and celebrating all over and he told me in broken English that it was his first knife sold in the U.S. I didn't have the heart to tell him that it was all a mistake. Paid a pretty penny for being too polite and diplomatic there.

greetings sir...I feel the same way. I've bought several high-end customs that sit in a drawer. I tend to carry a buck/strider or a benchmade 710. I'll end up selling off stuff I won't use....by the way...did you see the Bama/Gator score? ...ROLL TIDE!!!! :D

The protege is one of the few knives I regret getting rid of. I liked mine. I don't have any sick feelings about any of the knives that I have.

Mine would have to be my bear mountain damascus steel tanto balisong... . I payed around $60 for it and it will not get sharp because of the insanley thick blade and huge angle at which it is sharpened. It also has cheap steel handles that the paint chips off of everywhere. I just wish i had taken that money and just put it towards a BM-42...That's the way you learn though.

Emerson raven;way overpriced, the thumb disk was set too far back to open easily, & the handle didnt feel good; too much handle, too little blade...............
