what knife that you regreted to buy?

Smith and wesson SWAT, gerber mini-covert. I bought both of them when I was inexperienced about knives. Won't take an edge. And plenty of blade play in the Gerber.

I would say a lot of the cheaper knives I bought for whatever odd reason before I knew much about steel.

Gil Hibben Kerambit from UC . It just won't get an edge to begin with due to the original grind. I really don't feel it's worth it to spend the time to regrind an edge on this one.

i bought the Ontario Spec Plus 24 USN1
i payed about 50$ with shipping and when i opened the box it was just so dissapointing, cheap looking, and way smaller than it appeared to be in the pictures...but thats what i get for buying without researching and being a newbie...i should of put that money towards a camp tramp. dammit!

Emerson raven;way overpriced, the thumb disk was set too far back to open easily, & the handle didnt feel good; too much handle, too little blade...............

Really? Darn, I just got one off of ebay last week that's on the way over to me. No particular reason. I didn't have an Emerson in my collection and I chanced upon an auction for the Raven.

The knife I'm dissappointed with is this $40 survival knife I got. It was early in my collection, and it's what actually kicked off my interest in a collection. That knife I got primarily because of all the survival functions -- built in slingshot on the sheath, compass built in the handle, and a tube in the handle with bandages, needle & thread, mirror, and other things, nylon roping, screwdriver, can opener.

But the knife is horrible. It feels cheap and the blade rattles from the handle (it's not a folder).

Emerson SOFCK. Action was extremely tight, and the grind was too thick.

CRKT SealTac. Dull out of the box, and I would have needed a belt grinder to put an edge on it.

Benchmade Ascent. Dull out of the box, and when I tried to switch the pocket clip to the other end of the knife, I discovered that the handle had a mold defect, preventing me from screwing the clip down.

I regretted buying my Benchmade 705 BW knife. The knife is well made but the wood inlay was rather plain. I feel that Benchmade should have picked a piece of wood with a better grain.

CRKT Kasper Folder worse $35 I've ever spent. I was practicing thrusts with it to see how it felt compared to my handmade Crawford version and on a hard stab the lock let go and damn near took my finger off (didn't have the LAWK engaged) store took it back without question.

Strider AR and SnG. Had a couple of each of these and the fit\finish and overall quality was not something I would expect in a $350-$400 folder. Off center blade, unequal profiles\grinds, shoddy lockup on 2 AR's. Eventually got out of them and into 2 SMF's that have no quality issues at all.

Early Pat Crawford Combat Folder, has a tanto blade and skeletonized titanium handles. The lock fails on this poor thing with VERY light hand pressure. I did buy it used though, and paid friggin $500 for it. It was one of my first handmade folders and is sentimental for that reason. I kick myself for not being more informed at the time, since I think this piece listed at $375 from Pat back in it's day.

We must have went to the same school of kniventry! (lol) I was class of '98!! We know better now! :D

I have a prototype of the old Phrobis C.U.K. A stub tang a a total waste of money. It is worth it's weight in rat turds.

Tom Anderson Seahawk off ebay for around $20. :barf:
(Collaboration with some crappy factory.) :barf:

The Gerber spectre. What a horendously built piece of krap. When the blade is locked open there is a gap of about .015" between the stop and blade. Never bought a gerber knife again.

I have a small Peter Bauchop hornet boot dagger I just never got around to carrying.

I have a Cold steel Skimitar also. Not a bad knife but I never carry it.

I have regretted buying all of my fully serrated-edge knives and combo-edge knives--now I only buy plain-edge.

I also regret buying a few hawkbill folders that I have since gotten rid of.
I just don't find them all that useful.

Allen.

Most CRKTs, a Camillus EDC. CRKTS 'cause they wear out fast and the EDC because it only seems to fit small hands. And has very little point.

Careful! If his fanclub sees this, you will have 42 pages of aggression!

For me, I dont regret many of my purchases. As a maker, I feel like im wasting money when i buy a production knife that for other than heavy EDC use, but can't afford others' customs and can hardly afford to own my own!

I sort of regret buying my boker helios ceratitan. It cost me $170 (which is an insanely good price) but the wood inlays look like sanded down dog poop. and the handle is more of a blue than grey like the picture. Plus I'm always worrying about blade strength. I know it's not as brittle as my infinity, but how much stronger?. it wasn't really sharp out-of-box and I haven't got my lansky system back from loaning it yet.
