What knife to save to buy

If you are in Cincinnati, look up knife stores in Newport, Ky. There is a good one not far from you. It is always better to handle knives in person before purchasing.

Actually I am in Georgia... The user is constructed of initials and parts if my name.

Spyderco and benchmade have some really incredible knives in the $75-$100 range. That seems like a good next step for you. I really like the spyderco native, but there are so many in that price range that you should really go to a store that has a good selection and handle as many as possible... then make your decision. Good luck

I would, but the closest store that I know if that is mainly a knife distributor is in South Carolina, about 2 hours from where I am. I (read "my parents") don't have the time to drive 2 hours each way to spend the day looking at knives, though I'm sure my dad would go with me if we could find the time.

I recommend the Kershaw blur. It is a great edc knife. Thin handle, strong blade, American made, and can be had for around $50 online for the base model. You can get it in many colors, blade styles, and blade steels.

You can handle bucks, kershaws, and sogs, at your local walmart and dicks. A few gander mountains have benchmade products. Cablas and brass pro carry bigger slections but bigger prices than every where else. Some gun shops carry knives just have to call and see.

The blade show is in Atlanta in june. If you can wait that long to handle a lot of different knives.

Might could get a trip to the blade show and a knife for my b-day... Also in June.

Hard to go wrong with a Kershaw, and $50 will still get you an American made one if you do a bit of searching. SOG makes quite a few knives within your budget as well, although most (all?) current models are imported from Taiwan or China. I personally am a big fan of the SOG Salute, although I've noticed that some retailers charge almost twice as much as others for the exact same knife; don't go over $30-35. And while some people here are very opposed to Cold Steel, some of their models are pretty nice for the money.

Because I'm looking to save I'd say around the $80 per blade mark for budget, I use mostly for the standard daily tasks when I carry (opening packaging and such) as for my style I prefer longer thinner blades, as well as knives (regardless if blade size/shape) with a contoured grip.

Many RJ Martin designs have struck me as having long thin blades, take a look at the Kershaw Chill, Zing, RJ1 and RJ2, Scrambler, or if you're willing to save for a long time the ZT 0600. The Kershaw Leek has a long thin blade as well and is made in the USA comfortably within your budget.
