What knife to take with to Italy? And where to find a Sardinian knife?

Hi guys

There's a chance I'm going to go to Italy this coming x-mas with my family. Obviously being a knife guy I carry a pocket knife on me everyday. I want to bring a knife or two with me to Italy. Regarding laws, I've read something along the lines of "need a proper reason for carrying one". Now I use my pocket knife often to cut fruit and other food when out and about, so is that a proper reason?

I'm planning on taking along my SAK waiter and Opinel no.6. Is this a decent choice? Will people freak out there if I open up the blade of my charming Opinel to cut a piece of apple or sectioning an orange?

Also planning on getting one of those Sardinian knives if I see one! Can't go to a different country without getting a local knife from there right?? Anybody know how much I should expect to pay for one and how available they are and where I can get one?

Thanks

Mike

Hi Mike, both the SAK and Opinel 6 are fine choices and you should have no problems, I often carry them too.
about the Sardinian knife (it's called Resolza), you may visit the knife artisans workshops at Arbus, Pattada, Orgosolo, and many other Sardinian cities.

Thanks for the replies everyone, but plans changed, my family wants to go to Austria instead haha... Either way I'm very happy and extremely fortunate to have the opportunity of going overseas this x-mas

Cheers

Mike
