What knife were you carrying when....??

I am about to be a father for the first time (inducing labor later tonight), and as a knife freak, deciding which knife to take to the hospital with me to witness my daughter being born is a big descision... It's about the least of my worries, but the thought crossed my mind because any knife I was carrying at that moment would have a specialness about it.

I think I am going to bring my lovely GEC #15 spear blade in ebony or rust red bone because I see these as heirloom quality knives to be passed down.

So my question is, what knife were you carrying when your children were born??

congrats. you going to use it on the umbilical cord? :p

I have no kids (knock on wood) so I can't add mine...

my wife is expecting. i had my voyager on me as my first quality knife, all y funmemories with my buddies, my hike to y engagement, my wedding, so id take something like that

I have no recollection of the knife I was carrying when either of my kids were born. There are a lot more important things to remember. Good luck and congratulations. It is an amazing experience.

My daughter decided to surprise us and come early so I didn't have a chance to grab anything. Congrats to you tho!

I was just becoming a knife nut when my daughter was born. I think I had my USA Schrade SP3 in my pocket. It is the same type of knife my dad carries.

I wanted to get a knife to commemorate her birth, and I wanted an American made knife since she was American made. :D Case was about the only one I could afford. When the doctor pulled her out, she said "oh what a little peanut!" So, I got a peanut. And, since her baby blanket was yellow, I got yellow delrin covers.

It took 7 dealers and two months of searching, but I was able to get a yellow peanut made on the day she was born. Pretty cool.

Same Old Timer 330T for two kids, but that's because it was always in my pocket at the time. Now, thanks to this site, it could be any of what some could consider way to many knives, so if it happens again, there's a good chance I won't recall - as Cardiackid said there will be so many other amazing things to remember, likely what blade you have will seem pretty insignificant. Unless you use it, of course...

i have no kids, but i was with my best friend when she had her kid & i had my Spyderco Tenacious with me.

congrats. you going to use it on the umbilical cord? :p

Only reason i remember this is because yes it was used to cut the umbilical cord.
the doc couldn't find the scissors and they needed to cut the cord quick because the kid was ill or something. Still can't look at her or that knife in the same way..... good way that is

BTW nothing scares doctors and nurses like cutting the umbilical cord from the hands of a doctor with a pocket knife in a single flick of the wrist hahaha :D

i think i was carrying my first locker: a US-made gerber bolt action. the kid's 10 years old now and she hates my knives. calls me "hey knife boy!"

Spyderco Sage 1. Which was a fathers day gift a few months earlier from my wife and step daughter. It was not used to cut the umbilical cord. Even though the thought crossed my mind.

Congrats man! Kids are awesome, my son turned 1 in April. When he was born I was carrying a benchmade contego. Hope all the best for you and your new one!

Thank you for having the knife closed, unlike another member here (don't remember who) that posted an open knife next to his infant child [shudder]. Anyway, I probably had my CRKT M16 with me for my first, and my Kershaw OD-1 for the other two. I don't specifically remember.

Firstly congratulations.

I was carrying my Wedding Date Umnunzaan when my daughter was born.

On a related note, I recently got a Large Seb CCG with her birthdate as a future 18th bday gift for her.
