Would you carry a differant knife than the KA BAR given to them or would you use a differant knife of your choice keeping in mind the problems they face?

A marine should be able to make this choice them self.. So hopefully your just a weekend warrior...;)
Most popular thing I hear of, are leatherman multi tools
welcome to the forums

I just recently came across the Extrema Ratio RAO and the price puts it out of my range but that thing really is a do it all folder.

I don't think what Trimcut posted was meant to be disrespectfully, especially to any Reserve/ National Guard units. Thank you for your service .

Lets try to keep it civil here and stay on topic.
So what blade do you carry during deployments Tyrant?

Trimcut needs to edit his "weekend warrior" remark in his post or this will have a hard time staying on topic.

I too take offense at it. I was seven years active duty Marines, been in the Marine Reserves for the last eight, which included one activation with a trip to Iraq. The Marines use a "Total Force" concept, but dumb comments like Trimcut's perpetuates an attitude of second class / second rate performances / status.

might it have had a meaning other than the generally accepted national guard/reserve reference? cant we be civil?

Glassjax/Tyrant

I was referring to "weekend warrior", as in... the average joe that camps out on the weekends... or goes for weekend hunting trips... mountain climbing etc....
Thank you... Did you not see the wink in my original post... Along with a direct answer to the question...

HW... thanks for pointing that out...

Anytime and I was just trying to keep every one calm over a thread that a recently banned troll started.

If I were still in the Corps I would carry what has recently become my new favorite for that size blade. The RAT cutlery RC6. It is an unbeatable knife. Very well designed. Extremely durable. Takes and holds a fantastic edge and the price is affordable as well.

The RAT SERE when that comes out, long history of randalls being used by the armed forces, ferhmans, and busses are awesome also

Sorry, that old stigmata sets me on end:(,we have to adhere to the same requirements as active duty also maintain our civilian jobs.
Currently my deployments have been 7 fire seasons and 2 floods we go to either Iraq or Afghanistan in 2010 most deployments I either
have a RAT 7 backed up by a tactical folder 3 3/4"-4" Benchmade mini rukus or rift,Spyderco endura as always multiple multi tools,
But I'm thinkin about takin my CRK MK VI I justpurchased.understand I usually take several knives with me.Always a 7"chopper
4"-5" fixed blade on my belt always and multi tool with tactical folder.

P.S. didn't mean to hijack the thread Marines and Army Infantry are similar I've carried a RAT 7 for awhile the new RC6 from RAT cutlery
should fill the bill.If salt water environment I'd go with a SOG seal team 2000.My first 4 years in the army I carried a Kabar And Spyderco
