Get yourself either a Victorinox Tinker or a nice Stockman pattern knife. Or perhaps what we call a boy scout knife. Has a nice leather punch.
I know the law is the law but I really do think with knives, appearance has an impact on how the police view them. If you had a knife that was just 1mm over the legal length that had skulls or death's head emblems on it...the police would tend to view that as the violation that it legally is...as defined by length. If, on the other hand, you were in possession of a very gentlemanly knife as I've recommended...or a boy scout knife...you would have a very handy tool and yet present a visibly non-threatening appearance to the police. They probably wouldn't even bother to measure it.
