What Knives do the Makers Carry?

Hey Crayola,Why not just make a extra knife to carry yourself and take the money from the other knives and buy some supplies or equipment:D
You really should carry one of your own for two reasons:
1) This is a great way to test your knives yourself and if it tears up or fails you will know what you have to work on ,and you will know who to throw it at to fix it:D :D

2)If you are carrying one of your own and you start talking to someone about knives you can always show them your using knife if you don't have anything else with you, this lets people know that you use what you make and arent afraid to use it hard (carrying someone elses knife when you make knives doesn't sound like you are proud of your own work...Think about it)

Actually there is a #3

3) I have sold more knives off my hip when I first started than I can remember,It was like as soon as I said this is mine and put it on my hip that was how soon someone else wanted it.I have had customers at gun shows say that they liked to buy the makers carry knife as they knew it had to be good or he wouldn't be carrying it..Go figure, they are usualy ones that have a bad flaw somewhere but the blade is still great..
Just something to think about,You got to advertise...and if it is on your hip or in your pocket people will always see it and remember that they wanted one of your knives.. ;)

Ok Bruce I`ll get out one of mine
that I use to carry. The only thing
is I never sale them I end up giving
them away:rolleyes:

Great ideas Bruce! But I thought of the advertising spin already :p

I am slowly becoming used to carrying a fixed blade around instead of a folder. I intend to make a knife formyself sometime and I'll definitely welcome any and all chat about it from people I meet!

At the same time, though, I don't need to carry one of my own, as every knife I have sold was purchased from seeing only one pic on the net. Pretty cool eh! O.k., I'd better fess up. I've only sold ONE knife so fay (my 5th ever made) and it was to MadDog 2020 :) To be honest, I make knive so slowly that I think (and hope) that showing it off on the net will generate the interest I need. I don't really want to advertise on my hip and tell people that I don't really take orders. If someone asked me to make them a knife, It would take me a while as I work outside (when it snows, the shop is closed) and I grind in between school and GF time. I won't say whether my Masters studies or my girlfriend takes up more time either :)

I had to add this! I just thought of it; my new knife maker slogan:

RejmanMade knives: Newbie rates, Professional Waits :)

The love of my life is my 440C boxer. I made this one up on a whim one day just to take on a hunting trip.
Its with me now just about everywhere, work, hunting, fishing. Its in my pocket, around my neck or on my belt. After about 4 years its starting to look a little worse for wear but what the he(( I can't afford a new one.

Crayola,It is great that you have been able to sell knives on the internet...This is also the only place I have been selling for the last 1 1/2 years, except for the random local customer that stops by to see if I have anything available.
BUT,How are you supposed to let someone know how well y9our knives work if you havent actually used and abused one yourself.I understand that it takes you a long time to make one at the present but it wont be that way forever;)

Sylvester,That is easy, tell them you just can't get rid of it and they will offer to buy it then you just price it at a price that you think they would rather get a new one at and if they still want the one your carrying then make yourself a new one,But QUIT GIVING them away..:D :D
Heck i still give one away every now and then mostly for a donation to a good cause but everyonce in a while I will give one to someone that is really deserving or has a good cause for needing one but honestly can't afford one (but didn't ask for one)Just trying to figure out haow to do something that would look decent and make do for there cause..If you know what I mean:cool:
