What Knives do YOU use????

1. Benchmade
2. S30V...
3. BM 710 or 806D2
4. My CS Magnum Tanto XII
5. Spyderco/Lum Tanto
6. I don't have enough experience to answer this one :(
7. Criswell...?
8. My Kryptonite mini U-Lock. I fear no Biped with this in hand.

1. What full-blown production knife company makes the most durable, toughest knives; basically, who's the best (folder company and fixed blade can be seperate)?

I currently like Bark River (although I use my Busses more) in the non stainless category.

I like Fallkniven too in the stainless category.

I only use large Sebenza's in the folder category.

2. Best Steel (or steels if you want to give a carbon and stainless. We all know the incredible power of Busse INFI, so let'd skip it and think of others. INFI rules, but I'm looking for something widely available)?

Non stainless - A2, D2, 52100, 5160

Stainless - S30V, VG-10

3. Best production folders?

I only use Sebenza's, although I have several Benchmades.

4. Toughest Fixed-blade knife (consider edge holding, resistance to breakeage, etc. I wanna' know what knife you would carry if society and the whole fricken' world went down the sh*tter and you could only have one fixed blade. Keep in mind that you can't have a custom or mid-tech, just what's readily available at the local knife shop)?

My local knife shop has everything, including customs and mid-techs. You should talk to yours and get them to upgrade. All the best knives right now are only available over the internet or through some special purchase process. Becker is good, but I would rather have a Swamp Rat.

5. Best Neck Knife?

I don't like things around my neck. I live too close to Kliff Stump. ;)

6. Favorite Sharpening Device?

Hand American Made Pro Combo Deluxe

7. (Just for fun...answer if you want to) Best Production Sword Company?
I'm just beginning to venture into swords. I recently bought a CAS Iberia Banshee Cutting Sword. Feels good, but re-sharpened the edge. Frankly, I don't know squat about swords.

I don't own a sword, and if I did it would be a custom.

8. (Another Just for Fun...answer if you want to) Favorite weapon that isn't a knife or gun?
I love my Cold Steel War Hammer (especially after I coated the shaft with a THICK coat of black Plasti-Dip)! I also have some Sap Gloves (gloves with 8 ounces of shot in each fist) that are pretty cool, even if they are just a novelty I can never wear anywhere (they're illegal around here, or so I've been told).

Best production co.---Benchmade (You know spyderco is just getting absolutely AMAZING though)

Best steels-----------I vote for S30V and spydies VG-10(gotta love 1095 carbon) Hell even a good 440C is nice for a working blade!

Best production folder-- From what Ive heard, a Sebenza. Kind of depends on the circumstances.

Toughest fixed blade----If I cant have a Beck-WSK Ill take the tops version, although a good ol Kabar Would probably be more realistic (swamp rat hoo-ya!!!)

Neck knife--------------Dont have any. Ive heard the Becker is plenty tough.

Sharpening device------ Any old diamond stone coarse preferable if a cant have anything else.

No swords

Favorite weapon--------A tomahawk isnt technically a knife. Tomagohnka (war club)

  • Best Production Co - Spyderco, I just can't get into thumb-studs
  • Best Steels - S30V and VG-10 have been good to me. Haven't tried D2. Yet.
  • Best Production Folder - I'd have to go with the Mnandi
  • Toughest fixed blade - no experience, but I'd guess HI Kukhri
  • Neck knife - don't have one, probably never will 'cause I can't wear a fixed blade under my clothing here in Kalifornia.
  • Sharpening device - Sharpmaker
  • Swords - No experience and practically no knowledge.
  • Favorite weapon - I guess I'd have to go with a crook necked cane. Unobtrusive, relatively compact, and a wide variety of uses/techniques.

C'mon! More! I want to hear from EVERYBODY! Sorry to be pushy, but I find this all very interesting!

1) Folder-Spyderco, Fixed-Fallkniven.

2) My favorite steels are CPM 3V and 52100, but for an almost stainless I would go with D2. For an out and out stainless my choice would be S30V, because of its toughness.

3) Spyderco Military (love the overall ergonomics of this knife), and Buck 110, because it is a low priced knife that I am not afraid to use for just about any cutting chore.

4) Camillus Fisk OVB Southwest Bowie, Fallkniven NL1 or A2 or Mineral Mountain K-19. I like big knives.

5) Don't know enough about neck knives to give any recommendation here.

6) A good combination stone and a Hand America hone.

7 & 8) Once again, I don't really have enough expertise in these areas to comment.
