Just curious, have you ever bought a knife and tried your best to like it but just couldent?

yes. Cold Steel recon 1... I loved the blade shape but it was to large for me to open with one hand. I have small hands lol. I also never warmed up to the fact that it was a 50+ dollar knife made of AUS8 steel, and it was chinese made. So i sold it...

Yep. Lots of times. People in Traditional are always talking about how wonderful the Peanut is. I've got several, I've carried them, and I just can't like them. Spyderco Persian was talked up like it was the perfect knife, but it doesn't fit my hand at all. Titanium framelocks - just can't force myself to like them. I could go on and on.

thankfully no, i think im kind of picky before i buy a knife so i enjoy all of my knives. that being said i do enjoy some knives more then others. My Kershaw Needs Work was a great knife (before i lost it in my crash). my only complaint was the handle was a little small, then i bought a JYD II CB, and its pretty much replaced the needs work

Cold Steel Black Rhino, CS Scimitar, and Spyderco Karambit come to mind. All neat designs but just didn't work for me.

I bought a Benchmade 9051 Auto, and couldn't bring myself to like it. Mostly because the factory edge was dull, the sheath was less than awesome, and I got really ripped off on the deal because I knew basically nothing about what a good price on it was. Paid $200 and gave the dude my Kershaw Breakout. HUGE MISTAKE.

Spyderco Endura 3 and Benchmade 520 Presidio. I searched for quite a while to find an Endura 3 in new condition, but it had the most blade play of any knife I've ever owned and didn't fit my hands very well. The Presidio had pretty much everything I wanted in a knife: good steel, nearly full flat grind, nice blade shape, fantastic handle...I ended up having nothing but problems with the knife so I finally gave up on it.

Benchmade Barrage lg.

Benchmade 890 Torrent

Benchmade Nagara

Spyderco Police 3 G-10

Kershaw Blur

Kershaw JYD 2 (except the ti framelock version)

Probably some others. That's what the exchange is for - we all have different tastes. :)

Hogue EX01 - Felt way too blade heavy, needs full liners. Wasn't fond of the ergonomics at all. I tried 3 differnt models and got rid of all of them.

Benchmade 710. It was my primary EDC for about a year, but then I got more knives and my preferences moved on. At this point it's one of those knives that does nearly everything I don't like.

benchmade 556 - felt too small in my hands, axis lock was fun to play with but i never felt comfortable really using the knife.

becker bk2 - too heavy, too large for what i needed. knife was good quality, fun, but just impractical.

Para 1. I have big hands so I modded the back 'hump' of the handle 10 minutes after I got it. The handle fit my hand after I did the modd but I could never get used to
the out of porportion blade length to handle length.

yes...i have been thinking about this same dilema. i got a dustar dimona knife and its just too much knife for me. i decided to list it on fleabay and see if there's any interest. dont know what i was thinking when i bought it.

There is much to like about the Buck Sirius. I have both the 420HC and the ATS34 versions. It's a well-made, fast-opening, solid-locking, sharp-as-dickens general purpose knife. I was so impressed with it, that I also bought one for my son and had it signed and engraved with his name.

However, as I tried to work it into my EDC rotation, I just kept finding it less than optimum.

Unhappily, it's just a little too heavy to carry EDC, it's just a bit too thick for a lot of my everyday stuff (like making a salad or slicing cheese), the liner lock has a weird (and painful) sawtooth ripple right where you have to press on it with your thumb, and there's a cam-lock lever right there I want to put my thumb on the spine.

Now, Sirius has a little brother, the Rush, that is essentially a scaled down version of the Sirius, but the change in size makes all the difference. The Rush is light and handy, the cam-lock tab is still on the back, but its placement somehow doesn't interfere with my grip, the blade thickness is fine for most of what I do, the very pointy point is awesome for package and box opening. It has the same sawtooth ripple on the liner lock, but it doesn't hurt my thumb.

So, even though the Rush and Sirius are the "same" knife in two different sizes, I really like the Rush, and I've never been able to warm to the Sirius.

Don't get me wrong, though. It's not like I'm gonna just "dispose" of the pair of Sirius examples I have. Yeah, I might sell them, but not cheap. Heck, I could maybe get enough from selling them to afford another Paradigm. :D

Some of the ones that i've traded had good reputations but they just wasn't for me.

Benchmade mini grip
Spyderco Endura: (love my Delica though)
really wanted to like my Emerson Super Karambit but it just wasnt practical for me
Never did like my Busse AD that I sold and I'm a Busse fan boy.
Really, really tried to love my Battle Rat but it just didn't feel as good as other choppers I have (still kind of regret selling it though, I know if I'd have just given it one more chance....)
Fallkniven F1: never heard a bad thing about it and it just didn't do it for me
Grayman Suenami 7: (I wanted this soooo bad and as soon as I got it I realized I didn't like it)
keep going back and forth on my BK2. To get rid of or not? hmmmmmm? It's almost too thick for me to ever use. Almost feel the same about my ESEE 5 but I like it just a tad bit more.
Never did care for any of the Blind Horse knives that I owned.
