What knives/knife gear you have re-purchased?

I am curious what knives or knife gear you have purchased once, used up/lost/broke/whatever, and then re-purchased? Also, why ddid you re-purchase the gear? Might be an informative post!

For myself, I haven't the largest collection, and I get a new knife every few years, so I don't really lose/break/wear out much knife stuff. But one item I did re-purchase is a Sharpmaker 204 from Spyderco. I have had a lot of knife sharpening stuff, especially as a hobby knife maker. I still use my belt sander a lot and my waterstones, but one piece of gear I won't be without is a Sharpmaker. I originally bought the 203 and used it, chipped the brown stones, and used it more and more and more. Great for setting micro-bevels, touching up edges, etc. When I got married I gave my mother my old 203 so she could keep her gear sharp, and bought a Sharpmaker 204. I think it is a wonderful piece of equipment, and if I lost or broke or wore out my Sharpmaker 204, I would get another.

How 'bout you?

I had a M16-10k with a loose clip for a while and i kept on tightenng the screws but eventually the would come loose again. So one night i was out with is and it was in my pocket....then when i got back that night it wasn't their...It was quite a sad time since i love that little knife with its flicker and compact size. It had all the qualities i wanted in *one* of my EDC's whic was compact, well concealed when worn, fast and reliable, which made me have to purchase another. Im glad i did as it is still one of my favorites.

I bought 2 204 sharpmakers one for me and one for my father. He immediatly took the stones out and stuck them in his old sharpmaker that only came with a stick holder and 2 white stones. He broke both of the old ones. He still doesn't know how to use it properly even after watching the video. He insists on doing all sorts of wierd things with it, like turning it side ways to use the corner of the stone instead of turning the stone, running the knife up and down etc. Oh well as long as he thinks he gets his knives sharp...

I bought 2 spyderco military's . One was SE, then it was stolen, then I picked up a used one here for a good price.

I was so impressed with my Edge Pro APEX, that I purchased an Edge Pro Professional model with scissors attachment. Certainly the old one wasn't worn out, just my obsessive compulsive mature kicking in.

i bought a caly jr zdp and liked it so much i went and bought another one.one i carry and one is put away

I've run through a few Spyderco Natives and Massad Ayoobs. Sooner or later I'm going to have to get at least one of each and stop trading or giving them away.

Not quite the same thing, but I usually only get one of each knife I own; still, I have three models of Sebenza and two CUDA Maxxes.

I did recently replace a Gerber Bolt Action, more for sentiment than anything else, since I lost my first years ago.

Grabbed a pair of Caly Jnrs. I was given a CRKT KFF, gave it away, brought another, again, gave it away and finally got a pro

Does trading count? I traded my Sebbie some years ago. I have missed it. So, I recently traded for another one. Ahhhh, it is so satifying have another Sebbie in my hot little hands. This one is NOT going anyway!!

I keep buying SAKs because I "misplace" them.

I used to acquire Schrade Old Timer stockman knives (model 8OT), but no more.

The sharpmaker.

BM 705, it disappeared for a while and I had to have one. The original did turn up later

CRKT Mirage, my first wharnie and I picked it up when the Mirage was on cloeout. I bought a few for $10.00 each and have extras to fall back on. THe only CRKT I've really liked. Mostly a whittling knife anymore.

Outdoor Edge Impulse-- I kept giving them away to people it impressed. Such a great knife for cheap. The Paragee too was excellent.

SAKs--the little gentlemen's model. scales would break, or get lost and so on.

LM Micra. Another one I kept giving away to people. I now use the Squirt exclusively, but have a few Micras to give away still.

And I'm planning on another AG Russell Featherlite to have on hand for when my current one dies or gets lost.

I sold a Case mini Copperlock amber bone, then bought another one, now I'm iffy on it again.

I had a Ladybug, ruined the edge, got rid of it, bought a new one, and left it on my mega key chain.

I had a BK9, got rid of it and just bought a BK10.

I had a regular Spyderco Military that I received in a trade, sold it, and decided I like the black bladed Military, so I just bought one of those too.

I got a Schrade Cave Bear 7OT as a gift from a neighbor, broke the tip off of it, and sharpened it over the years. I'm giving that one to my little brother and bought myself a new 7OT last year.

Knives repurchaced:

Buck 120 General, late 1970s. I sold it for almost nothing. Still kick myself. Just ordered Cabelas version with aweful "Pro-Line" etch. 420HC instead of 440C. Live and learn.

Buck 110, late 1970s. Sold for almost nothing. Replaced it with Cabelas Alaskan Guide version in S30V. Feel okay about that.

Schrade 152T Sharpfinger. Gave my 1970s model to my son. Got nice new one on FleaBay.

Cold Steel Vaquero Grande...I've had 4 of these...I've traded, re-traded all 4 away, and now just recently traded for another one.

Cold Steel 6" Tanto...I've had 5 or 6 of these...Traded-away, re-traded for...Curently own one that I traded for awhile back...Maybe it'll be a "keeper"...:D.

Same with the Cold Steel Trailmaster, various Spydercos, 3 Ontario Hell's Bells, 4 or 5 REKAT Sifus, and the list goes on and on and on...

BM 710,
I had one(154CM), then sold it, bought another (154CM) about a year later. Then, saw the M2 version and wanted to try out the metal (excellent). Now, I've three 710's.

I've really been thinking about repurchasing the the Mini-Ambush (sold the first one).

And, I've been contemplating getting another Sharpmaker, one for home and one for the road (or hiking trips).

Well for me it's been a LOT of knives.

I think I have traded, given away, or sold about 12 different Delica's. I love that knife and I don't have one anymore. :)

I had, at some point, a BM722BT that I loved. Traded it, and then later got a BM722SBT through another trade.

I did the same with like 4 Grey FRN Calypso Jr's. Got some back through other trades later.

I've had so much fun however and dealt with many cool folks so the trades/gifts/sales were all worth it to me.

I do however wish I still had a BM722BT as that is one sweet knife.

;)

The responses to this thread are all awesome guys! I like that there is a lot of variation in the knives/gear, as well as our reasons for re-purchasing them. Shows the depth of our hobby!

Freddy1, nice Opinel there! Great idea modifying them and handing them out.

Underaged: I have a Charge XTi that I would hate to lose. I might consider the V'nox multitool if I lost this one, but then again maybe not. My Leatherman is almost up there with my Sharpmaker.

Victorinox Recruit-'cause my old one got left in the engine compartment of my truck and was probably squashed on the road somewhere.

small Sebenza-sold one because I got bored with it. Bought another, carried it awhile, and am thinking of getting it refurbished and selling it, since I haven't carried it much lately. I don't know why...I'll just end up buying another one:rolleyes:

Calypso Jr. ltwt.-had a spare, sold it, bought another spare, gave it away. Now I need another spare. Figures.

blue BM 940-one of the knives of the month in 2000. Bought two, carried one. Sold the spare, then sold the user after getting the first small Sebenza. Decided I missed it, bought another that was used from a guy at the gun shop, but immediately traded it with some cash for a new 940Ti(which I still carry part of the time).

Busse NO-E-had one of the early smooth ones, but the handles didn't work for me, so after awhile I sold it. Bought a later version hoping the handle wouldn't be quite so wide, as the tang was almost flush with the scales, but it still wasn't a great fit so I sold it, too. Kind of wish I'd just ground the handles down, 'cause I love the NO.
