What Knives Would You NOT Replace?

Anything I have ever owned made by Gerber. Don't trust them anymore. Not that there is really anything wrong with their products, as I haven't bought one in ages, but I have heard nothing but 5 bad things to every one good, and a few people I know bought them and they were extremely dull from the package. Not only dull, but their blades chipped rather easily, and some of them had a lot of blade play. (Especially the Fast Draw, I think it is called?)

I wouldn't replace my microtech ultratech. Although I really love microtech's, I just don't find that I use it enough or enjoy it enough for $300.

Benchmade Mini-Stryker with partially serrated blade. Good knife just never really warmed up to it for some reason.
Kershaw Centofante-Onion - very nice looking gents knife but it's very small and slippery as hell.
Kershaw Splinter - Again, very nice looking knife, but the thumb stud is difficult to access, making the knife slow to open.
Wouldn't replace either Strider I own. Great, hard use knives, just don't care for their shady business practices.

My Leatherman c301. I've had the knife apart once already to clean & adjust it, and I keep having to mess with blade tension to keep the launcher working. I might take the launcher out & see what I have then. It may end up in my dead knife bucket in the garage.

The other one is my CRKT M4 Carson (non-a/o). I like the design & feel of it, and I got it from a forum member for a good price, but the plastic scales suck. I'm in the process of making rosewood scales, we'll see how it turns out. Oh, and I don't care for the auto-LAWKS either.

thx - cpr

My SOG Flash 2 and my SOG Mini X-Ray vision. The flash just feels cheap, has vertical blade play and is the slowest AO knife i have ever had, The Mini X-Ray is actually a really nice knife but I hate CE knives, if they made it in PE with G-10 scales I would be all over it.

That's a good question. Probably my Boker-Matic. I bought it because I thought the mechanism was neat, but there's just too much blade play for me to really like it. I wouldn't be too broken up if it suddenly disappeared.

Now, my EDGE-Matic I have strong feelings for. Not only does it have a much tighter lock-up, but I gutted my first fish with that knife. Not the most ideal knife for gutting a fish as it has lots of nooks and crannies. It took forever to get that fish smell out :p.

I don't think I would replace any of my knives except for my laminated mora which is ironically my cheapest knife besides a vic classic. All of my knives either are unique or I would have too much fun trying something different instead. For example, while I love my composite leek if I lost it I would try a new delica instead out of curiosity.

That's pretty much how I run. There are only a few models I actually like enough to consider worth buying again. The rest are just there for varieties sake.

Everytime I've disposed of a gun or knife I have regretted it - but if push comes to shove and I could keep only 1 it would be a classic Sebbie - assuming I could offload everything else at a good price otherwise nothing goes unless I go feet first too

It's a wonderful knife, but I wouldn't replacemy millitary. It's a bit large, so I'd get a para instead.

this Case slipjoint eating Blackhole/Quicksand pit cause i'm putting my boots on:D
This is a tough one cause i'm a sentimental guy, would probably be the the suspect 4 line camillus jack i bought off fleabay a couple years ago:rolleyes:
definitely not what i thought it was... and the only knife i havent carried:mad:

"Probably the biggest strike against it, is that A/O systems on knives get on my nerves."

You do know you can turn it off, right? Did you buy that knife not knowing it's biggest selling point is the AO feature?

On topic:

Boker large cinch sod buster- cheap feeling synthetic handle, weak spring, horrible grinds. but for $15 dollars what did i expect.
