What lock for you?

My list of lock lust starts with the Spyderco compression, followed by frame locks. then back locks, last is the liner lock. I would like a military in G-10, but with a compression lock. Hint hint Sal. It would make a nice complement to my Ti military. I realize that the ultimate lock is the fixed blade. And I like them also. But since I joined the "I feel naked without knife group" carry convenience has it's merits. What say you?

I guess I like the frame lock of my sebenza since it feels very solid.

Liner lock is also my least favorite.

I really like simple locks like framelocks and liner locks, but I also love Benchmade's Axis lock.

The Axis lock is great. I just do not like edcing any knife that has a lock where parts can fail. The Axis lock has proven that the springs can fail. And BM will not sell you replacement springs. You have to f--kin send the knife to them to be repaired.

F--k that!

Legality (my area), quality, usefulness, size, shape, comfort, how it's carried, locking mechanism. The locking mechanism being used is pretty low on the list for me, though I generally prefer liner lock and frame locks as they are easier to operate one handed. Though I have been known to do lockbacks one handed but their trickier.

Favorite is the axis lock, for the best overall combination of performance and ease of use. I like the compression lock for strength and greater simplicity than the axis lock, but the compression lock is not even remotely as pleasant to use for me. The tri-ad feels tanky strong, but isn't the easiest to close one-handed. I think I prefer liner locks to frame locks (even though I carry mostly framelocks) because I've more frame locks that had questionable lockup.

It seems i am on of those few people who actually love a quality liner lock. It seems people still connect crappy knives to liner locks.

For me compression, liner, frame, backlock, axis.

Don't have any liner locks yet, but that should be fixed sometime this week, early next. So, Axis followed by frame and I love my little fixed blades, too. Only back lock I have carried for any length of time is my Delica the lock has already demonstrated that if a little lint gets in back there, it doesn't engage fully. Never had that problem with the Axis.

Frame lock is probably my favorite followed by compression or axis lock. Least favorite is back lock becasue its harder to close one handed usually.

I prefer framelocks myself. Though I don't feel any other lock is really 'weak' since anything done to folders should be able to be done with a slipjoint as well. Proper usage and all.

I am a big fan of the Axis lock. Great lock for EDC. It makes it easy work to open and close one handed.

I like liner/framelocks for their simplicity and reliability in dirty conditions, but I dislike the ball detent for closed retention. This lock also feels the most natural (to me) when unlocking.

I like the closed retention of the back-lock but I dislike the complexity and reliability problems when dirty. (Lint can cause it to fail.) The Tri-Ad seems to be an improvement but the action suffers slightly in the production examples I have handled. I would love to handle a custom Tri-Ad lock from Andrew Demko. :D

The Axis lock seems good enough but I wish Benchmade would use other locks more often. My only example of the Axis lock wasn't a good one so my opinion is biased.

I need to experience the button-lock and the compression-lock eventually. Oh, and an OTF automatic... :)

Masterlock. Keyed, preferably. I like the brass ones with the black on the outside.
