What longed for knives did you acquire in the last year or so?

I reread the threads on what knives you have lusted for over the last year or so. How have you done? What longed for knives have you actually bought/traded for/been gifted in the last year or so? Were they worth the lusting?

I'll try to start - my wife has been great in this area. She goes to local 'sharp-thing emporiums' and asks what has my grubby fingerprints and drool on it - and buys/puts it/them back for later what she can - and they give her better prices!

1. CRK Umnumzaan 'StarTac' - just over a yr ago - first CRK - commemorated my retirement.
2. CRK Nyala - Christmas gift from my wife.
3. ZT-0551 - just had to buy it. And later - a second one!
4. CRK Small Plain Sebenza - B'day gift from my wife.
5. Microtech Ultratech - B'day gift from my wife.
6. Arno Bernard 'Wild Dog' - Just had to 'try' one - WOW!

There are more - too many more. It was a great year for sharp things here. Some, like my BM 171 'BladeSport' Chopper - a Christmas gift from my wife - I still wonder what I'll use them for. I finally bought a Case folder - not that impressed. My wife thought I was - bought me two more. The six above were lusted for ever since I heard/read about them - or first fondled them. I am exceedingly pleased with them, too. That A.B. 'Wild Dog' is nice - really handmade - and the least expensive of the six.

How about you?

I've been wanting a Spyderco since I started collecting, and ended up grabbing a Manix 2 in Carpenter steel, and loving it, hasn't left my pocket hardly at all :). Also Was wanting cold steel Rajah 2/Spartan, got both on my birthday, and loving them for the cool factors. Scared the crap out of my friend when it came ;). Now it's time to go for some expensive folders, but that'll be a whiles away, since I'm a poor high school student.

Bruce Culberson chopper,Scott Gossman M.U.S.K to go with my Big Boar Tusker, Last September my wife got me a Horton Camp 2 for our 25th anniversary I think that is it for the last year. When you have 2 gun safes full of guns and custom knives you kinda lose track. This year the wife bought me a Ruger 454 Casull for our 26th.

I had wanted an Emerson CQC 8 since last summer, and when i finnaly got enough money together for it they were sold out of every website i had looked at them on. But i finally got one this summer, (even tho they went up about $25 on every website) and its an awesome knife. wont be my last Emerson, got 4 others on the "to purchase" list

I lusted after the original para when it came out, but was never sold on it due to a few little design things (tang sticking out when closed, tip down only, and mostly the handle shape as I have really wide palms and short fingers) Then I watched as the para 2 came around, bought some other knives, but kept coming back to the spyderco section to oogle the Paras, well after buying a Manix 2 and realizing that its a great size but needs a narrower profile and a different lock I said screw it, and bought a para 2 black blade. I can't believe I didn't buy this sooner, its right on par with my A100 as far as nearing the perfect knife!

I've been watching the HTM madd maxx which I just recieved today. Also I have a custom Darrel Ralph on order which I've been lusting for for years. and finally a Emerson Super CQC-8 which is on its way now. I unfortunetly had to purches all of them for myself.

When it comes to slipjoints, I am a big fan of the Railsplitter pattern. About a year or so ago a knife dealer had some Railsplitter Moose's made up especially for him by Queen Cutlery. They were very low run special factory orders and at first, they were only available from this dealer. I wanted the Ivory handled version so bad that I could taste it but when he had it listed on his website I did not have the funds to buy it. He also had some Ebony Wood versions made and I liked that one too but it was the Ivory one that really I lusted after.

There were 25 of the Ebony versions made and only 4 of the Ivory versions were made. I thought I would never get the chance to get my hands on the Ivory with such a low run size.

About 6 or 7 weeks ago I stumbled across a forum member who had both of them and he was gracious enough to let them go. I like them both a lot but the Ivory is my pride and joy. Good fortune and a very kind forum friend made this possible.

I have gotten a ton of other knives over the last seven months or so that i was excited about but these are the top 5

Small Sebenza 21. It was a consolation gift for myself for letting my wife talk me into buying her a new SUV. I think I got the better end of the deal - no payments, gets hellacious gas mileage, and I never have to cruise the parking lot looking for an empty space, to name just a few of the benefits.:)

I finally scored a CQC7 after a couple years of indecision.

My other two big time wants were both - suprisingly for me - Benchmade. 755 MPR and 760 Lum Lfti.

I love all three knives.

Tostig

These here.

Actually, only the Hinderer was the one I was on the fence about because of how thick the blade is. I wanted it badly enough though.

The two that I had been wanting and finally found a deal on this year would be a small regular Sebenza and a Mountaineer 2. I was surprised to find them at a knife shop and even more surprised by the asking price. I walked out of there with both paying a total of $415. AND the small regular turned out to be BG-42!

The ZT 0551 was the first thing I've ever pre-ordered. The six months of delayed gratification was well worth it.

Busse Basic 11, Busse KZII, Busse CABS, Busse MUCK.

Scharade Large and small pioneer/trapper two blade slip joint (23 and 73 sized pattern). (1095 made by GEC for Scharade. I bought 4 two for me, and one for each of my boys).

GEC Northfield Pioneer single blade. (Texas rose large frame #23 single blade, 1095).

Also a new Recon 1 clip point with the Triad Lock.

Next on the list some more traditional slip joints. (thinking some Schatt and Morgan file and wire models).

It has been a decent year for me.

The last two months have been good knife months for me. Ive gotten my hands on quite a few.
