What Low Cost Replacement For A Zero Tolerance 0562?

Buck vantage avid or vantage force select
3.25" of Buck's 420hc
Made in USA
w/ Buck's great warranty
Deep pocket clip
Good ergos

Upgrade to bos ht'd s30v in the vantage pro for just over $60

Nothing "like" a ZT, but everything "like" a Buck though.
Just 0.25" shy of what your looking for, but checks every other box; IMO you'd be hard pressed to find a better knife in your price range, esp. If you opt for the upgraded steel.

You really need tp pick up your toys when you aren't using them.... :D

Lol... Man, I work 3rd shift, and then i get home ànd chase my (2yr old) son all day until his mom comes home from work, lucky if I get 5hrs sleep a day during the week; when he goes down for his afternoon nap, last thing I'm doing is picking up "my" toys, that's my "me" time.

I start a load of laundry or dishes, plop down on a comfy seat with a drink and a snack, (and a knife), and relax to some non kid friendly TV, whatever it is, don't care, just so long as it's not educational song filled kids shows...

I have considered the Thermite. Do you have one? How's the grind (thick/thin)?

Thermite, 0560, 550, and Utilitac II:

The Thermite and Utilitac II are two knives you will have no problem thrashing on. Especially the Utilitac II, I think it comes in at around $25.

Thanks grownstar! And all others who have provided pics or commented.

The whole story is that I'm replacing both a ZT0620 and ZT0562. Here are the prospective replacements so far, respectively:

0620

-Kershaw CQC-4KXL
-Kershaw CQC-4K
-Kershaw CQC-1K
-Spyderco Endura Wave
-Cold Steel Talwar 4"
-Cold Steel Rajah 3
-Cold Steel Spartan

0562

-Kershaw Thermite (cool to stick with the same designer on each replacement)
-Kershaw Link Aluminum (don't know which blade shape)
-Kershaw Knockout (especially the green/black version)
-Kershaw Volt SS
-Kershaw Skyline (just cause it's US and light)
-Kershaw Chill
-Kershaw Leek (small, but I know I like them)
-Kershaw Piston

You're most welcome! And I like what you're saying about sticking with the original designer :)

I've been wanting to try a 4KXL for a bit. That one will definitely keep in line with that beast of an 0620!

Kershaw Blur. I know you said 3.5+ inches and the Blur is 3.4". Excellent ergonomics, great AO action, it's a winner for me.

The Piston is as great suggestion as well, I have one of these and gifted one to my SNL and he loves it.

How about just skipping a meal for a month and keeping the 562! [emoji10]

I can get pics of the Knockout beside a Leek, Griptilian, and/or ZT 0560 if you'd like.
The 0560 would be awesome! I've had all three, but handled an 0560 most recently. One of the most frustrating problems for me buying knives is that I'm very picky about ergonomics and have an unusually wide hand (and short fingers).

Alright, it'll be either late-ish tonight or tomorrow before I can get it, but I'll get one ASAP.

The Knockout feels a lot like a thin, slicey 0300 (or 0350 I guess, but I never held one of those). Especially when you open it. It has the same cool mechanical feel to it when it comes open.

Pics of your sausage fingers or it didn't happen!

I just got the Discontinued Kershaw Tremor in the mail today. It is fantastic! Big handle. 3.75" blade. I got it for a heck of a deal. PM me and I can direct you where.

I second the Ontario Utilitac 2. I know it's not made in the USA, but it's a great knife, my buddy has a ZT 0350, and in my opinion, the utilitac 2 is a poor mens 0350

The tremor is a nice knife. Cannot believe it's discontinued. Would love to see a USA made model with the Sandvik 14c28n steel.

ALLHSS,
Not being familiar with every knife on your list should make it difficult for me to recommend one of them to you.
But, it's not difficult at all due to my complete satisfaction in the SKYLINE that I have owned for many years.
It's light, comfortable, inexpensive, tough and exactly matches your criteria.:thumbup:
The SKYLINE has been a sales leader for a long time for ONE reason, THEIR GREAT KNIVES!!!:)

Another vote for the Thermite..I keep going back to it despite its being a cheaper knife than many others in my drawer.

Alright guys, thanks again for all your suggestions, pictures, and advice!

I'm down to replacing the 0620 with a Kershaw CQC-4KXL and the 0562 with a Kershaw Thermite or Kershaw Knockout.
