What Lube?

I have used Remoil and Tufglide for all of my knives. I like the Remoil a lot more as many times after I put a couple drops of Tufglide in the action actually has more resistance. Its quite the strange phenomenon but it is what it is. Remoil works great. I soak a qtip with it and coat all metal parts that move against one another (beside the framelock/linerlock). I just started using Breakfree CLP this week though and am so far impressed enough to where I'll probably switch.

Oh and I went to Militecs website and it did not say anything about a free sample???

What's this from? I've used Corrosion X and it's good stuff. BioShield is also good if you're looking to keep rust at bay. However, I'm looking for something slick, not really for corrosion protection, but to as a lube.

That image is from a test done comparing Fluid Film to some other popular protectants. In the test, each product was sprayed onto 3'' x 6'' bare steel panels which were then suspended vertically for 24 hours to simulate end use conditions. The panels were then transferred to a closed fog atmosphere of 5% salt concentration.

The panels were removed when each reached approximately 95% surface corrosion. Two competitive product panels reached 95% surface corrosion within 14 days, a third in 45 days. After 52 days, Fluid Film had reached a corrosion percentage of only 5%.

Fluid Film is approved by NASA as a lubricant on the Space Shuttles, as well as for use by the US Navy. It is food safe and works great for protecting leather.

I like Ballistol. It contains mineral oil. Good for guns too. Wood, metals, leather, plastics, rubber, and PLANTS is says! Developed in Europe about 90 years ago, and has worked well, according to everything I've read. It sells a little, but unlike the protection, the odor is short lived.

Oh, yea, I have some Remoil. It contains Teflon. I don't even like to cook in teflon pans. Cast iron skillets for me!

I have a Tuflide pen but I don't like it, it doesn't make the knife smooth.
Got to get some Benchmade blue.

I like CLP on my folders and multi-tools. I put it on, let it set awhile, then spray it out of crevices with caned air and wipe off exposed surfaces so the knife looks almost dry. Basically what I do to my semi-autos.

I'm curious about doing that to a hunting/skinning knife though. I know CLP is toxic, you wouldn't want to ingest it. But how dangerous is the minimal amount on a blade, when you're using the knife to clean and dress game? I wouldn't use a CLP treated blade for table or kitchen food prep, but how much is going to find it's way inside me if I use it on a skinning knife?

Honestly, for lubrication, there's probably none better than Tri-Flow. You can get it at any bicycle shop, I know that gundude73 and YDNAR88030 had mentioned it, but they're right. It's the best.

As far as for oil for keeping rust/oxidization at bay, I just use mineral/clove oil or olive oil.
But Tri-Flow is the best for lubrication.

I just use norton honing oil(mineral oil) that I pick up at home depot. I know its not the best, but its cheap and works fine for me.
