I cant answer my own question. Either a jig and pig {Uncle Josh pork rind} or a Bomber Prop A {Long A Minnow with a tail spinner}.

Both bass looked like they approached 8 lbs.

Any kind of top water frog or mouse or a kickleg type frog. Ive had luck with spinnerbaits but thefrogs get the most action.

Black Jig w/ Purple Pig, Works best in slightly stained water and when that pork is new and very purple.

1/2 oz. Booyah Red Hook Buzzbait, black/red. Weighed in 8lbs. 13oz. Caught it in March, 42*, was out messing around setting the brakes & spool tensioners on several of my reels and just casting along the bank at our local park. Could not believe this bass hit the bait this early and especially with the air & water temperature what they were. Once in a lifetime catch, believe me.
Be safe.

A wacky rigged 6" senko with garlic scent, Caught my 2nd Largest largemouth with it, and my largest smallie with that rig.

A deep running large gold Thunderstick. Plowing it into rocks about 2'-3' deep and got a smallie that was close to 6 lbs.

Mine was on a 4" Nip-A-Diddy. It's a cigar shaped top water lure with a propeller at both ends and two treble hooks.
Caught on an old Heddon Pal fiberglass rod (great action with top water lures).

We don't have a lot of BIG bass up here in Canada. But I have caught 7 fish over 5 and 1 of those is over 6.

4 of them are on jig and pig (either real meat or plastic)
2 on spinnerbait (3/4oz)
1 on a 1/4oz jighead and a 5" curly tail.

Biggest was ~5# largemouth. Caught on a classic Floating Rapala #7 silver.

Have a couple 7 pounders. One was on a spinner bait (chartruse skirt, probably colorado blades) and the other was on a texas rigged power worm (a big purple sparkly one).

9lb 4oz caught on Lake Murval in E. Texas on a Herb's Dilly.

Herb's Dilly is one of the original buzz baits invented sometime back in the 1930's.

6 LB. Largemouth on a tiny red and white fly rod Hula Popper, 8 weight Sage RPL+ with a RIO 12 LB. bass leader. I saw him go under a willow tree after he unsuccesfully tried to swallow a 10" bass I had just landed.
