What makes a clip point a clip point ?

But for example the ESEE "clip point" knives look very different from that, more of a straight line from spine to tip.

I don't really consider those "clip points". Just a sharpened swedge added...

If it's a straight or concave bite taken out of the knife it's a clip point. If it's convex it's not.

Swedges have nothing to do with it. Nothing. You can have a swedged drop point, clip point, trailing point...whatever.

Its about the spine of the blade, and if its "line" breaks. That's it.
 
Technically, a clip point is a drop point that has been "clipped" short to give it a larger belly.

Lately, I've really taken a liking to clip point blades, and I've ordered Bill Bagwells book as well.
Might need go get myself some nice big knives :D

JacksKnives ~~ every time I see a Pic of another ESEE-3 Knife I have to go and get another one and since I have run out of colors I get "RIT" and do my own Color plus I even have Custom Scales for 5 of them now.! RATS...!!!!!!
