BR, you quoted NYS law, it used the phrase "dangerous knife" Take this for what it is worth (since I got it out of an old cabelas's catalog) "A dangerous knife has a blade over 5" & overall length over 10" "
They also list the states, NY included...While a sports catalog isn't the end all in law, it might help as a reference point in your quest for the truth
PS: IMHO...the King of the fighting knives is... the bowie, of course
