What makes a knife go up in value?

Tip #4: Jump on limited production and sprint runs. Especially Spydercos. Like that orange S30V Manix. On launch you could get them for like $110. Now just a few months later I see them go for $150+ on eBay. It was a sure investment. Buy a few from several dealers, hold onto them and liquidate them later.
Aww, this is a bad one. You shouldn't be recommending that he buy up a bunch of sprint runs from multiple places, I want to actually buy and use just ONE of those sprint knives and I can't because of this kind of thing.

Stormbringer was a mirror image of Excalibur. Fun stories from back in the day.

Sorry, that was the switchblade writing. It's bored with being a utility knife and makes all kind of suggestions that I must say no to!

Please don't cut me scary smart knife... erm... Mister Scary Smart Knife, sir.

Yes, as I sprint for safety. ;)

That reminds me, I do have a very nice mitmor (magic knife) in the collection. It’s an early and unusual example from Thailand that is associated (signed by) Luang Por Derm*. The knife is supposed to heal and protect its owner from a number of risks, and is said to disperse ghosts. .........(so it's no wonder I haven't found a haunted knife🙄)

* search “Luang Por Derm museum“ if you are interested in the subject.

It is a full size knife with a pipeback blade. The scabbard is wrapped in ray skin. Dates from the first half of the 20th century.

Always figured if they quit making a popular model it would increase the price to collectors. Notice it for Dive watches over the years too. Discontinued models shot up in price on Flea Bay. In fact bought a Seiko SRPA-83 about 3 1/2 years back for $425. Don't think Seiko is making them and have noticed vendors charging almost $700 for new in box ones. Depending on costs of materials and labor no surprise to see a jump in 110-112 prices. Just my 2 cents but why wait.

Does that mean my Movado Sport Diver might actually be worth something??

Might want to see what they are goin for on E-Bay. Might be in for a surprise. Watches seem to be a hot market. I sold 5 Seiko and Citizen Dive jobs that were kinda vintage for twice what I paid years earlier. Always seeing one I like better just like knives lately. LOL
