And expensive? I like the looks of the all Ti ones and would like to own one. I would why they cost so much more that a sebenza or some of the other knives out there?

What makes them good: top-tier production quality, high-end materials
What makes them expensive: top-tier production quality, high-end materials, limited availability, relatively limited production, popularity

What makes them good : design, materials, finishes combined tight and clean manufacturing.

What makes the expensive: above combined with free market of demand and supply, and taxes added on top.

Evidently, the freight prices from Russia are high, on top of that, distributors have their mark up, on top of that, limited quantity. All that makes for a higher priced knife that is in demand.
They are quality built knives, that's what makes them good. The only way to understand is to have one in hand.
Are they worth it ? They are to me.

I won't disagree with any of the above points, but will add that in my fairly extensive range of modern production/mid-tech folder experience, I've yet to see one that can match a Shiro in tolerance and design, particularly when it comes to actual cutting performance. The edge my F95NL came with was very good, but after touch up at the factory bevels, it became utterly awesome, with no need to equalize or re-set. Action is sublime, and mine is a lowly SRBS.

From what I’ve seen, the shipping prices from Russia are not bad. I just received a neon zero that costed him 1660 rubles (about 26 usd) to ship to me.

I’ll also mention their heat treat seems to be spot on. Every steel I’ve tried in shiro as well as others has been outstanding.

Next to my CRKs they are probably the finest knives Ive ever owned and Ive been in the hobby for 12+ years. I have sold all of mine because of the money tied up in them and the fact that Id have to send them to Russia for any warranty work. They tend to have a thin tip compared to what I prefer to carry, I was always worried Id break it. ----They are the Russia CRK----

I think they were just ahead of their time and established themselves early. They made top quality flippers consistently before a lot of others and way before the market got flooded with high end Chinese production knives. They made a name for themselves, got hyped up, sold them for what people were willing to pay at the time, and kept the quality high since, so the prices have stayed up there over the years. If they were a new company in 2020, they would have to sell them for a few hundred less. I do think they're over-priced for what they are. You are definitely paying a "Shiro tax" just to own something with the Shirogorov name but I also can't deny that they make some of the best production knives. I've owned more than a few over the years and tolerances are always tight, they're consistent from knife to knife, actions are great, and they're designed to be used.

You all talk me into it! I just bought a F95 Ti in bronze from a forum member on here. Is this a good model? I can't wait to get it. I may have to sell some knives now to pay for it. Lol Wonder what the bronze Ti looks like? Anyone with a picture would be great. Thanks everyone. I am going to have to pull up the Shirogorov bear picture thread now. Lol

Congrats, you won't regret it.

The 95 is a perfect size. You will love it. I have one in blue and one in brown! Great knives. I own 4 in total. You should be able to copy the logo link from my signiture.

This is actually a great question. I’ve got some serious GAS (gear acquisition syndrome) for one, but it’s more realistic for me to check out a CRK before I drop that kinda moolah on a knife. I have enough trouble justifying $200+ knives to my wife. Envy you Shiro owners though...

What Makes Shirogorov Knives So Good? Your imagination and perception of it!

...expensive? Your perception of value (thus creating customer demand) and willingness to pay for it!

I like the sebenzas but they just seem hard to open to me. I have owned 5-6 and all great knives but would not open like a flipper or spyderco. I wish I had keep the first one I had in Bg-42 steel. Talk about a razor!

I do like my sebenzas also. But you are right. They aren’t meant to be flicked open. It’s more hydraulic. I guess I kinda consider them in a different category.
