What Makes Shirogorov Knives So Good?

^^At the price they sell at I’m also much less inclined to buy because of the language barrier and time to deal with repairs. I imagine if I was Russian I’d probably not want to deal with American companies at this price point either.

If you buy from recon1 they deal with all that for you.

I wonder why CRK's don't use better steel in their knives? Nothing wrong with S35V but a lot of companies using M390, Elmax, CPM20V.
They indirectly announced S45VN so that’s going to be something fun coming soon.

Honestly, I don't feel like Shiros are actually that amazing in terms of material quality and tolerances. I owned an F95T and tried to love it, but there were just too many problems. The bearing races are fragile, with loose bearings that are easily lost if the knife is disassembled. The issue of "Shiro shelf" on the lockbar has already been brought up, and I've always found it disturbing that on any of them you can push the lock bar over to 100% engagement with the lockbar insert, right up against the "shelf" with ease.

None of that screams tight tolerances to me. Certainly not on the level of CRK, or more comparable makers like Koenig or Holt. And when they start around $700, wheew boy. Hard pass for me.
I agree with some of your points but not all. Loose bearings are not an issue. Just don’t lose them. They’ve tried every variation of bearings that other knives currently use so to to be at their current stage of evolution says something. The feel of opening and closing is smooth with zero noise where other bearing knives have a grainy feel/noise. As for your model 95T, I can agree that there are a few bad shiro’s out there. I had a frag95 at one point with bad lock stick. I would agree that shiros are pricey but only by two or three hundred bucks. To hear some people say they should be as low as 300 is just ridiculous.

One thing I can’t stand is to hear Shiros and CRKs being compared to each other. I think we should focus on the initial post’s question regarding Shiros and not make this about CRKs.

They are both equally amazing brands but are on completely different planes of existence, other than the fact that they are both folders. I’ve owned 3 of each brand so far so I can highly recommend each but immediately put each on blast if asked.
