For me, it's scratching up the blade, and sharpening so far, but, find that its hard to
do. What do you do?
Maybe put your initials in it? How hard is it to make your knife your knife your
own?

Mine after I trade or buy it.

What makes it have more than dollar value? Honest work.

It's mine after I sharpen it. I usually will use it with the factory edge for a day or two, then sharpen it to my liking. I also like to carve a wooden pencil so it looks like a drill bit.

When I cut a wave hook into it.

All my knives get sharpened and polished by me.

My carbon knives get patina.

I like very sharp so usually my folders get their bevel widened.

If it bites me, it really feels like it's mine. I can't give away a knife that does some damage to me. I'll feel like the knife won. Other than that, dropping it by accident a few times makes it mine. Soon I'll start acid etching some to personalize them more.
