What Mora to get?

There are so many choices! I was looking at the Companion maybe just because it's the most popular. I am going Camping/hiking in a week and wanted a light fixed blade for small camp chores. I am a fan of Stainless steel knives and own most stainless.

Is it worth getting the Heavy duty version of the companion? What do you guys recommend Stainless steel or Carbon? what is a good site to buy Mora knives? What other knives made by Mora would you recommend? ( post pictures of your Moras).
Thanks.

They're ten to twenty bucks, get a carbon and a stainless in different formats, find out what you like from them!

They'll both be perfect by the way.

Start with a standard stainless Companion in the color of your choice. I find their stainless to perform similarly to their carbon steel but with (obviously) increased corrosion resistance.

I think to get a carbon and stainless is a good idea. No extra shipping fee to ship another knife.

Not with the heat treatment that Mora uses. They heat treat all of their blades on the tough/springy side, both stainless and carbon, and 12C27 is very capable in that hardness range.

Ok and I have a couple more questions Thanks for all the help. Does anyone know the difference between the heavy duty companions and the regular ones. And what's a good site to buy these mora knives?

I have the Heavy Duty version in carbon and I love it. I'd say get it and the regular version in stainless. Hope this helps.

I've heard the stainless is more brittle. Dies anyone know if that is true?

12C27 is a very good stainless. Sharpens up nicely and the edge tends to roll rather than chip. To be honest it is so near the 1095 carbon when used in the field I can't tell the difference with most (but not all) applications. Best part is the price so a person can get one of each. I also like the 711/746. Not that the clipper style handles are bad.
