What next....traditional or spydie?

Why not both? There are affordable choices on both sides of your debate.
I fully plan on buying both eventually. However, up till now I've always focused on a single style of knife, and now I guess I'm expanding my interests a little. I think just the idea of expanding beyond Kershaw modern production folders was a little overwhelming.

If you wanted to gather some ideas about options in traditional patterns, you might take a few hours and look through this thread in the Traditional Forum:
http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...uot-Traditional-Knife-quot-are-ya-totin-today

It's been running for about 6 years and has about 50,000 posts in it. Everything from Opinels to customs.
I've actually been pouring through that thread the past couple of weeks....and I have found some styles I like and hate.

Most importantly, I think I'm finding that I can't stand multi blades patterns. Not sure why, but I hate them. However, I see a GEC #42 in stag in my near future. Can't stop looking at them.

I've been looking at the #42 also and the #72, but the one thing that I'm concerned about is the reported blade play in both of these.

I've heard of some blade play in those models, but honestly a little bit of blade play doesn't bother me too much. As long as I don't feel it while actually using the knife, I don't care. I'm all about functionality, not perfection. Who knows though that might change later for me.

So I got my opinel #10 in the mail yesterday....
Rebeveled it with my Japanese water stones and it's a slicing machine. Love it.

It's really nice to get a knife different from all the others I own.

I'd post a pic of the #10 but I can't get it to work on tapatalk on my phone ....

I figured it out!

Uh oh. I'm in serious trouble now.

Just bought a GEC #42 Missouri Trader. And super excited.

Traditionals get a lot of love around here, I have a couple but haven't really taken to them quite yet.

Spydercos on the other hand...

My collection is small compared to most but, I've bought 4 this month.
