What other tomahawk manufacturers do I not know about?

You know, I used to make a pretty mean hawk... Maybe I should get back to it.

I have several, used to throw them and taught my kids (Drove the lefty neighbor crazy, a side benefit!) Great fun, and a decent potential weapon, in hand or thrown. There were some, semi legendary, in service in Viet Nam. As a tool, not so much - I suppose, think Patriot with a "Cherokee Tomahawk. As a primary field / survival tool there are numerous better, more sophisticated options. Just my opinion.

Yes, I believe American Tomahawk Company made the tomahawks soldiers carried in the Vietnam War. For most of us, self defense is secondary to survival. That doesn't mean I don't take self defense seriously. Heck, all of my 35+ fixed blades are great self defense knives, but they're also tough enough for survival tasks. I'd love to have a tomahawk that was great for survival, great for self defense, and was also pretty indestructible. The best one I can think of currently is the inexpensive Estwing Black Eagle Tomahawk.

That one looks very nice. A rear spike would be a added benefit. I don't mean to be a jerk, but isn't that a Condor Tomahawk? It looks like Condors current 1075HC tomahawk they sell.

No its my original design called the "Breaching Bad." I started making these all the way back in 2014. Haven't seen the hawk from Condor so I just looked it up. They may have some similarities at a glance but this is a heavy duty breaching hawk made from 3/8th 80CRV2 and has a tapered tang.

How much do you charge for the tomahawks you make? Is it just the one design, or do you make different designs?

I've made several hawks in the past. I'm not currently making them but would if there was enough interest.

My most popular model was my 52100 Forest Hawk. Differentially tempered tang.

I wish I had more pictures of these but this is the only one I could find.

Dave Wenger of Wenger Blades makes one hell of an Heirloom/outdoorsman/Tactical tomahawk!

Much appreciated. You don't often come across these smaller shops. I really like the Loki Tomahawk. Those are mighty pricey. However, if it's something I can pass down to my daughter, I can see spending the money when it's back in stock. However, I need to do some research on whether it can actually chop wood reasonably well. IMO, and I'm sure I'm repeating myself, is that most mass marketed tomahawks fall into 2 categories, self defense or breaching. Self defense is fine for soldiers. Breaching is fine for the law enforcement or firefighters. Most back country campers are looking for a useful tool, that also excels as a self defense weapon. A good tomahawk should be able to replace a camp axe/hatchet, and possibly a fixed blade knife as well, or at least negate the need to carry a large, heavy fixed blade knife.

I love Daado Daado tomahawk. I think its 22 or 23 ounces and 17"or 19" long. It cuts wood for me better than an axe. I can make a shallow V verses and obtuse V ever widening with an axe. Of course I am not an experienced woodsman but I will take the Daado tomahawk before any one handed ax I have.

Williamstown Forge Trapper's Companion. Like everything else, they've probably gone up. I've had mine a long time and it still dispatches coons.
