What patterns/brands do you collect and why?

I like to explore as well, I started out just collecting single blade patterns and a few assorted 2 blade jacks and a stockman or two. I find a knife with two of the same blade to be a bit odd. I have steered towards a 2 blade configuration but it has to be a spear or clip main with a wharnie, sheepsfoot, or coping blade secondary. I like this because the main is good for big stuff (food prep, cardboard, etc..) ant the coping blade for packages and scribing and whatnot. I like a slim knife and prefer a single spring two blade like the GEC 79 and 68 white owl.

I collect GEC because of the relative ease, But I have an affection for schrade and remington oldies.

I only collect a few patterns. Mainly the barlow and singleblade trapper. No good reason really, I just like the way they look. Anything else are just knives that catch my eye.

For carrying..give me a 1 or 2 blade jack under 3 3/4" & I'm happy, and if it'a a USA Schrade or something with some nice ebony or bone I'll be even happier.
For collecting..anything goes, but Schrade,Uncle Henry & Craftsman are on the top of the list.
Peanut type knives too, love the nuts.
And nicks..they need to be on the same side.:)

Hi Folks,

Though I'm sure all of us enjoyed this thread, as I started it I'd like to thank everyone who posted a comment. Great insight into what some of you folks are doing as far as your collecting, accumulating, and using.

A week or so ago I received a Case Small? Texas Jack, yesterday an absolutely terrific #72 NF clip, and yesterday ordered a "few" RRs and a Brown Mule. Dang, I gotta slow down on this buying. I think the #72 will slow me down. It truly is a nice knife.

Again thanks.....

Regards,

George
