I travel alot and I like to stay within the law in the places I frequent.

What are some quality locking folders with a blade less than 2.5"

Thanks

You didn't mention price.

Many countries also don't allow locking knives. But if you're okay with a small
folder that locks, I like the Spyderco Byrd Crow for twenty bucks, free
shipping. It's a knife you can afford to lose or have confiscated. If you want
to spend more, please post your $$$ limit. You might also take a gander at the
Spyderco Cricket.

There are several Spyderco models you should look at. They put a lot of attention into their "little big knives". Some names:
Cricket
Dragonfly
Spin
Navigator
Lava
Co-Pilot
Kopa
Kiwi

Boker Subcom
Kershaw Chive
Kershaw Scallion- 2.25"
Benchmade Benchmite 2
William Henry

And many more!

I have a Spyderco Ladybug. Nice knife. <2" blade.
I also have a Chinese Buck "Colleague". Surprising knife. <2" blade. very secure. Blade holds up good.

Benchmade makes the Benchmite. <2" blade. Don't have one but I hear good things about them.
Spyderco makes a couple of other small blades as well. Hear good things about those as well.
Boker makes the subcom. <2" blade. Hear lots of good things about that as well.

Spyderco Cricket SE.

TONS of cutting power in a well built, beautiful looking, sheeple friendly package.

Will open any package and slay any foe!

Al Mar SLB , lots of small Spidies , William Henry has a few choice models , Boker SUBCOM and near relatives .

Great thread , this is a size range Im very fond of .

This is my favorite knife size.

I like Nemesis Knives' Imp, by Jeff Hall.

The Cricket, Chive, and Benchmites (I've only owned the Titanium and Auto versions, not the red line version) are also great.

I've also picked up a Victorinox Swiss Mini Swiss Champ. Very cool.

Here is an older thread I started on this, 'cept it was on 2" knives.

Case Slimlock series is exactly 2.5 inches. Beautifully polished, mirrored BG42 blades ( or damascus for more $). There is red bone, Mother of pearl, abalone etc. There are different prices according to materials used. The last case I went out of my way to buy. They are the equal of a lot of customs. BG42 is an excellent steel for knives, despite being originally developed as a high speed stainless/bearing steel. It takes polished edges & push cuts well. I don't have any experience with their damascus. Good luck, Joe

Mine both double as money clips. If you travel alot / fly they still need to go intoyour checked luggage. The chive has assited opening which is another great feature. I ish the Gerbr fatboy had the same feature due to it's stout blade.:D

I've had a Spyderco Co-Pilot for nearly 20 years. Great little knife.

And if you included upto instead of less than 2.5 inches, I'd through in the Byrd Robin as well.

Ball lock, great ergonomics, less than 2.5 inches. a tad heavy but solid feel. Wish they made a lightweight version with a black blade. Sal, you listening???

Tom

There are many nice knives with blades 2.5 inches and less. Of course even carrying one of these doesn't keep you clear of all the laws!
Don't you just hate the ability of every little place to make their own laws? Centralised power might be a nuisance in some instances, but it means here in Australia that knife laws are a state responsibility and towns, cities, districts, etc. cannot legislate them.

The UK? :D

I couldn't believe it when I found out that even tiny lock-backs like my Spydie Co-Pilot had been outllawed! And not even by a statute, but by a judge's ruling in favour of an overzealous prosecutor who claimed there was no difference between a lock knife and a fixed blade!
