I would like a real traditional shaped, all natural material quality made traditional Puukko, 3 to 4" blade, 4-5" handle

A shape I really like is the Jarvenpaa Iisakki 1244

Nice plain unpolished carbon steel, no hilt, guards, etc.

I would prefer a birch handle instead of the stacked leather however.

I checked out ragweedforge.com, but the 1244 is the only one I really like

Are there any other great manufacturers out there?

Thanks,
Ted

ps. no change of making one myself, tried that and messed it up

stop it stop it stop it stop it stop it you guys are trying to get me to buy that Aito aren't you? :D

I think I'm already sold on the 1244. Well, actually the 1243 (birch bark version). What a beauty

The 1244 was the birch bark version until it was discontinued...the 1244 then got a wood handle.
IIRC Ragnar special ordered them, then they became the 1243.
Nit picking to be sure, but what the hey :D

Why do you guys keep making my want list longer? Is there some sort of conspiracy to drain the bank accounts of all BF members?

I couldn't take these threads where the birch bark aito keeps being mentioned so I ordered one from ragnar :). Now I can stop worrying about them selling out;). The order number is now #1244-bark.

I'm glad to others out there appreciate these beautiful knives. I just received a Helle Symfoni from Ragnar and my next order will include the Iisakki Järvenpää #1244. What a great knife!

Hey guys, don`t buy them all up. I have been lookin at the same knife. I have been looking at a lot of Puukkos, But I keep coming back to the 1244

I got a Brusletto Troll Kniven recently and I love it! The keeper strap that attaches to the pommel is a nice feature. It's stainless but they left the heat treat finish on it so it's got a "well-worn" look to it. I don't like highly-polished blades - they just get scratched up. Ragnar's got a lot to choose from!

Ted, can you post a picture, when you get yours? You knive pictures are always most excellent and I am sure that the picture on the Ragweed page doesn't do it justice.
