Hi, this is my first post. Please let me know if Im in the wrong forum for this question.

I recently bought a Rigid bowie, looks vintage and made in USA. Have been trying to find out more about this model, also searching the forums here, but haven't been able to find much on this specific model, though some information on the Rigid company. My hope is that this model was made before Rigid was bought by United Cutlery (if I remember correct). Does anybody know? All help, history and information is greatly appreciated!

I don't know the model number but I believe that is one of the first 6-8 original designs and made in USA in the 1970s with 440C.
Rigid in the 1980s, like many other companies offered German, Itaian, Japan made models but they all appear to have
country of origin on them. As well as great steel descriptions of the time lime like "rostfrei" and "surgical".
After United stepped in there are some made in Taiwan models.

Did a little checking on that awesome looking bowie ya got. Sure looks like a Hunting Bowie Caribou Jagdmesser from the 70s Very nice looking bowie. Should be worth something. Check E-Bay for past sellers

The Hunting Bowie Caribou Jagdmesser, while similar (all the models are Buck Kalinga influenced skinner style and similar)
I believe has a choil.

Thanks for helping out! I search with some of the model names you provided, and found a interesting youtube video (unfortunately in german, but anyway), but somewhere in that video there was a picture of a Rigid bowie named R19 Razorback. Some more googling and it seems this is the right model, made in the 70's... If anybody knows where to learn more about this model (or know more), please give me a head up.
