I`m looking for a new knife to abuse at work and during army-service.
Looked at the Dumpster Mutt CG and really liked the specs on it. Seems like the real thing for my uses.
I`m a construction worker and get callled in to do some army-service from time to time;)
so this knife would be super to hang on my rig.
Of course they don`t make them anymore, and the ones on the exchange are double the price, for a used one...?

SO; to the case: Can anyone recomend something in the same style?
Has to be thick, but not to bulky on my chest-rig, good retention kydex(I carry handle down, both on belt and rig), sharp, so full flat grind or high saber grind.
No longer than 5", black (of course, mostly night-duty), and good quality.

And before you say anything, BUSSE is way to expensive, and I already know of ESEE 5, and the Becker BK 2...
I`m looking for more to choose from, LOL,.

What can I say, I`m a knifenut, so I`m always looking for something new:D

Well, nothing is going to really be that close that I can think of. I have a Fallkniven A1 that I like very much and it's in the same league ...kinda. You could check that out. It's convexed but pretty close to the same "feel" IMO. Not sure of your spending cap but there are a ton of custom makers here on the forums that could probably do something up for you. Good luck.

I was picturing something in the 70-80$ine, but can strech as far as 100 if I find the right thing, FYI the dumpster mutt was .285" thick, or 8 mm for you metric guys, lol....
But I want somehing with a black blade black handle for sure...

The new Scrapyard War Dog is pretty awesome. Swamp Rat makes a few good service knives as well. The RatManDu is still in stock I think, not too pricy either. I love that Bark River STS-5, it's been on my wish list for a while now, it was made for a Marine Recon team or something. Big fan of the new RSK as well.

Yes, I know. I have both the DC and the regular 5/16 Mutts seen here.

IMHO it's going to be hard to find something like the Mutt. You can get close, as you know, with some of the beckers and others but it's tough to find at your price point. Scrapyard will be offering some new blades pretty soon if you can wait. Perhaps someone will suggest something I overlooked. Good luck in your search.

Electrikhellfire: I just got e-mail rfrom Renee at Scrapyard, where he told me he cuold`nt tell me if they were to release any new knives for a while, lol...
I know how it works, and they only had the Scrapivore in stock at the moment.
But I`ll try to hold on as long as I can.....

Yes, I'm a member over there and they don't announce anything until the day they go available. There's a running joke over there that it's always "2 weeks" until the next release.

Go for the Ratmandu.
I have the DMCG and a Ratmandu, and both are great knives.
Actually, if the truth be told, I prefer the Ratmandu over the DMCG.

Cheers

I know, somehow all the Bussekin knives, double in price as soon as they leave the store. lol

Ratmandu is a lot of knife for the money, esee 4 is nice...smaller handle, izula 2 actually does a lot for a small knife...you could post in the wtb section for for a dumpster mutt and I'll bet you get one at a nice price...or a yard keeper- a little smaller but plenty tough! Scrapper 5 is an excellent blade too!
