What SAK is best for your EDC uses?

I am rotating SAKs every few days to see which one I like best for EDC, but right now I am leaning towards the Pioneer. What is your favorite SAK for EDC purposes?

The SAK I've EDC'd every day for about the past 17 years is my black-handled Executive. I usually also carry a basic red Spartan. I carry the Spartan over the Pioneer because the Spartan's corkscrew holds my tiny eyeglass screwdriver, which I use often.

My daily carry is the classic in it's keyring sheath, augmented by a tinker. These two cover a lot of ground in my edc needs.

I guess I've had the classic, pioneer and compact as EDC.

The classic is nice because I use every tool in it, with decent frequency except the tweezers. But the few times I get a splinter, man, I really want the tweezers. I can't EDC it alone though, it has to go with some other pocket knife with a slightly larger blade. A case mini copperhead or case mini trapper or the pioneer usually get paired with it.

The pioneer doesn't do it for me as a sole carry SAK. I'll use the knife and awl the most. Usually I'll need to pair it with a classic. Want the toothpick. Want the scissors.

The compact is my current EDC since I got it in March. It would be too thick for me if it fell sideways in the pocket, so it's often on a Tec p7 suspension clip which makes it comfortable. I haven't used the pin, pen, or eyeglass screwdriver yet... But the other items have been used with decent frequency. I find the knife, scissors, nail file, toothpick are the highest use items.

I also have a climber and OHT, but those are too big for me to EDC. I've also EDC a few leatherman Keychain models, but they all are relatively heavy for their size compared to SAK for my pockets.

I'm sure everyone has a different EDC need/want. Not sure you can decide until to try a number of different models.

Lately i have been edc'ing the Compact, only switching to the Swisschamp when I am woodswalking with my dogs. The Compact is just about perfect for my daily needs especially when paired with a larger knife.

My edc is the pioneer. Durable and the 2 layers are its main attractions. Pioneer, electrician, and rancher are all great variations, but the can opener has so many added functions over a second blade ( sheepsfoot/hawkbill).

When I was younger, travelled more and worked outside, I carried a Climber or an Executive. As I got older, I started downsizing. My usual carry now is a classic. I sttill have a Climber, Tourist, Tinker and Cadet but very seldom carry them.

Always have a Vic Classic with me and either a Pioneer or a Wegner soldier with the bail as part of my daily EDC. Usually carry another tradional to compliment these.

With me, SAKs are pretty much seasonal, and always in pairs. During late spring and summer, it's mostly OH Trekker because of outdoor work and recreational activities, with a Rambler in 5th pocket for the small stuff. For out and around otherwise, I like a Super Tinker or Sportsman, plus Rambler. Once in a while, I haul out the Swisschamp, always when I'm traveling. Those are the only SAKs I use.

I think this happens more than people realize. Life changes as we age, and our needs change with it. What works for us in our 20's is different than what works for us in our 40's. By our 60's life has changed again. I used to alk around with a couple pounds of knives on me, but they got whittled down over the years and now I rarefy carry anything I'm pretty sure I won't need.

I carry a Classic on my keyring a lot of the time. It's generally all I need at work, outside of the paring knife in my lunchbox. However, being a knife nut, I very nearly always have something else with me,whether that's another SAK (usually a Recruit), another folder, or a pair of slip and snip scissors.

I carry a Farmer everyday on my belt. Handiest knife I own. I'm 55 years old and don't imagine I'll ever "downsize" from it unless I started carrying a Pioneer instead.
