thanks for sharing guys...

damn, the alox soldier, and the soldier variants, and the 58 mm models. You are not alone, as i thought about those instantly when i saw the title of your thread, before reading your post.

For me it will always be the little classic. It has served me as the Giddions bible of pocket knives converting non knife people to carrying at least that. Like members of my own family that were asking me all the time, "Hey Carl, loan me your knife for a minute."

So one Christmas, I gave out several of the classics as stocking stuffers to cousins and an aunt. By the time was a year was past, each one of them still had their little classic on their key rings, and had gotten used to having a small sharp cutter along. Not to mention the scissors, SD nail file, and tweezers. The fact that it was mounted right on the keyring, made it impossible to leave it home or loose it. And it was sooo small, even the most knife shy family member wasn't intimidated by the knife thing. To them, it was super handy keychain tool that so happened to have a knife blade on it.

I will always love the little classic, the gateway drug of knives.

Carl.

I have been EDCing my Cybertool 34 for over a decade, such a useful tool to keep on my belt. But I also bought a few others recently because they are just so neat:

Ranger - great camping SAK, so many useful tools but it isn't all that bulky.

Alox Farmer - great selection of tools and a really nice looking SAK with the alox scales.

Alox Cadet - if you want slim and light then this is a great SAK - so small but it is still a capable SAK, it can handle most screws, light prying, opening cans & bottles, filing your nails and has a nice blade (keep it sharp and it will handle most cutting chores just fine).

One Handed Trekker NS (non-serrated) - I have a soft spot for this tool for when I want something bigger, bigger blade, bigger saw, bigger prytool/screwdriver/bottle opener. This is plenty of knife for most knife tasks and with one handed opening and locking blade, what is there not to like.

Depending on where I'm going and what I'm doing - these SAKs really appeal to me. From the slimness of the Alox Cadet to the great range of useful camping tools on the Ranger to the big & capable OHT. Of course there are a LOT of other great SAKs, these are just the ones that I really like for different reasons.

For me it's the huntsman and fieldmaster as I have two of each. Also the Wenger backpacker, I have three or four of those.

I would have to say the Swisschamp for me. Mainly because it has all the standard tools in a usable package. Anything larger really isn't very usable in my opinion. I've managed to accumulate five of them. All with the old style magnifying glass and file. Two are red,one hunter green, one stayglow and one hardwood. The stayglow and hardwood do not have the pin and pen. My edc rotation includes only two of them though. The old red one I've had since about 95 or so, and the stayglow one which I've had about two years. The stayglow would be perfect if it included the pen and pin. But I attached a small safety pin to the lanyard on the stayglow swisschamp and I always have a Fisher spacepen on me.

A very close second place would have to be the Farmer and third place the Pioneer/Soldier.

I have a soft spot for both the Swisschamp and Swisschamp XLT. I've had the XLT in my bag for 5+ years now, and it has completed countless tasks. I would feel naked without it. I will most likely purchase another to re-scale with stayglow or white. Recently I've really fallen in love with the Wenger Mike Horn Ranger, it's big, but a very well made knife! I would buy countless copies of this tool for the right price.

I've always liked the small Tinker and have accumulated at least 8 of them.
When I saw a picture of Chuck Yeager with his well used Executive in Blade magazine, I thought I would try one of those , I've always loved to see a well used not abused knife. Well that Executive seemed to fit my needs pretty well and I have added several of them to my EDC collection.
A childhood hero of mine always carried a Huntsman and that is my favorite woods knife.
He still inspires me to this day even though we don't see each other much. He was injured in a plane crash a few years back and had to learn to walk all over again. His sister gave me some a Huntsman of his and I wouldn't thing of goin into the woods without it.

Swisschamp.
I got one when I started to become a 'serious' collector of knives. I still check out new or related versions from time to time. Lately, I've been lusting after the stag model; hard to qauntify as I've a few Swisschamps already.

I have a sliver tech climber that I can't imagine leaving the house with I always find mulitple uses for it throughout the day. Hell today I even used the parcel hook for it's intended purpose!

to be honest... im addicted to SAKs, so any models of Victorinox always "attractive" to me... hehehehe

It'd be the Tinker. That was my first SAK. The SwissChamp; saw one when I was seven and always wanted one. Cybertool Lite. Upgraded from the Cybertool 34; great all around SAK. I have either of these in my backpack. But currently, I have either the Farmer Alox Blue or the Compact Sapphire handles in my pocket.

Victorinox Pioneer.

That same style of knife got me through my 14 months of military days and years after that.
Retired that knife and bought a new one.
Guess it's time to take it from the shelf and start using it.

Swisschamp. That was for me, in 1993, the ultimate Swiss Army Knife and was, in fact, the only pocket knife I owned for the next almost 4 years. During that time I used every blade and implement it packed, except for the small back-spring mounted screwdriver. Although since seduced away by Leatherman, I still carry the S'champ occasionally and always pack it with me when traveling. In the "if you can keep only one" derby, hard choices but that's the one I would probably hang onto.

My first Victorinox was the Swiss champ that I bought in 81,I've bought 2 more since.I mostly carry either the Huntsman or Climber in a belt sheath.I always have a Classic on my keychain.I have a soft spot for the Alox Soldier, have a few of those. Also like the Alox Farmer and Pioneer Harvester.I still carry my tinker on occasion. Most multitools are alot heavier on the belt and in the pocket.Yes,I love Vic SAKs.

The Farmer and the Huntsman. I love all SAKs and have a lot of them, but those are the ones that I keep buying if I see them. Last year I was lucky to buy a blue and red Farmer, they're very hard to find here.
