Hey guys.

Been on a Rambo kick lately. Watched em all the way thru.

So naturally been googling info on the knives.

Can anyone explain or post a resource on the construction method Jim Lile used on his hollow handled knives ?

I understand they were quite strong, but cannot find any results in my searches that dont lead to all the same rehashed arguments, criticisms, and UC cheapies.

Went to the Lile site, and checked Andy Woods, and still no construction info. I know they aren't machined of a single blank like Chris Reeve's knives are. So how ?

Can anyone educate ??

Thx.

One piece construction maybe? I understand some hollow handled knives are attached with a threaded bolt to the handle where there's a nut that secures it.

Hollywood didn't use a durable construction method vs cheap screw-tang designs.

Master knifemaker Jim Lile did. As indicated by the people who own his knives.

Funny how something that was once trendy to love can become trendy to hate.

Objectivity is rare when it comes to fanaticism.

Awesome. Exactly what i was looking for. Even went to that page but somehow my dumb ass missed that part.

Thx Twindog.

There are several ways to join hollow handles to blades that a very strong, we have a great thread detailing both construction and use. With Lile knives and many others.

A couple of makers post there and many owners. Personally i've owned and used a Lile Sly2 and several of Newt Martins very well made hollow handles. Newt has a tutorial on his website showing each step of his construction techniques which is pretty cool and very tough. I've beat on mine like red headed step children.
