Should I use the 30 or 40 degree setting for my aus-8 FRN dragonfly

Thanks in advance

The thirty degree setting will work fine for a back (relief) bevel, but I would suggest the forty degree setting for the edge itself. AUS-8 is pretty good stuff, but it doesn't stand up that well at thirty degrees for me. If you stick to light work, it may be okay for you at thirty, I tend to use my knives hard.

The 2008 catalog shows the FRN Dragonfly in VG-10. I sure hope that isn't a typo.

I don't see anything about any other changes, which is fine with me. I like having a clip that doesn't scratch everything in sight, and I love the light weight. I feel the knife is too small to have any need for steel liners, they'd just add weight that I don't want. Better steel is the only change I've hoped for.

on second thought you are right, I just hope its not a misprint regarding vg-10 on the frn.

Back to the original topic, is the factory edge on a aus-8 dragonfly set at 30 or 40 degree's. I know the delica is at 30. However I wonder if the dragonfly is different because of the different steel

Pretty sure all Spydies are at 30º. Haven't had to sharpen any at anything higher.

Sound opinion, it's a fine little knife.
