What sheath material would you choose?

Looks like a HOGpile.

No firearms in it,,,,

Kydex here, Leather there, if only one I get Kydex.

I have Kydex from several Makers, and leather from more makers than that.

I like Buy Brown Kydex, tell him what you want to use it for,,,tell him your concerns.
He will change what he builds to suit you, I have more of his knife sheathes than I do any other maker.

He also folds/bends/builds outstanding Holsters

What about concealex ? Is this similar to kydex but looks a bit more smooth ? I find that kydex scratches the blade finish too much but that's only a concern I guess if you want to just collect Busses for your showcase.

above all other materials... i'll say clear titanium. until thats available i'll stick with kydex and leather.(seperate and together).

Going out of aircraft or deep water I still want Kydex,,,but I would prolly have Okudan (spelling?) make it.

To big and to heavy for casual use for me,,,,but the toughest strongest sheath I have ever gotten to use.

If you are wearing it,,,and it gets broken,,,you knife and where it my be and not you problem anymore.(one mans opinion)

i use leather about town and in the woods.

i use kydex when they are packed (glove box, camp box, etc) and when i'm on the water.

for me it's fifty/fifty, i need one of both for my outdoor knives.

i have hiking boots that are leather and get wet all the time, they last for years, good treated leather works well.

kydex is noisier but bullet proof.

i wouldn't leave a knife in either material if all is wet.

here are a few of mine, i have others in vehicles, 4x4's, boats and bags.

Are those ones I made you still holding up Stinky? I see them in the pile there, but they look like the day I made them.

Deejay,

Concealex is a variation of Kydex. It has a higher percentage of acrylic in it, so it is easier to work. It does however tend to get a tad more brittle if overheated, and generally does not tollerate cold as well.
