That really sucks... I thought of asking but thought to myself ..... dropped it in a lake... misplaced it, etc. Never know it might save her life or end up coming back to ya...?

Neither is really more durable than the other, Some people prefer the sam browne buttons over snaps. I find snaps easier to work with on horizontal mount sheaths but that is just me. Personally I use pouch style sheaths for my own knives because I hate retention straps of any kind.
