Well it seams the longer I'm in knife making the more I enjoy making shop tools. I started thinking about it the other day and realized that most knife makers have a shop full of home made tools and equipment. then i thought why do i make my own tools, its not because its cheaper or easier It's because i really love making stuff i think.
so i thought i would start a thread on your home made tools and see if we could get some pictures out of you so we could see your stuff. I will start it off with with the major tools i have made for my shop.
My new baby I made, its over 300 pounds of pure anvil goodness
I made these to hold My 1" L6 round stock
Of course you cant have an anvil with out a forge. This has been a great little forge.
I made this to do my clean up forging, I use my 4 Lb hammer to move heavy sections and then use this to do final shaping and edge bevels. Its made from D2
I needed a Name stamp for my knives so i made one at work.
This is a 1" contact wheel i made for my grinder, i have yet to mount it yet but it should work great.
This is My pride and joy, It has saved me more time then any other tool i have made. it's a NWGS and i love it.
Last but not least my current project, My PID controller for my forge. just need one more fan controller and its ready to go. it works now but i don't have a low speed burn.
Well there you go, these are the larger projects i have done. Now lets see yours, thy might give others ideas on other things to make and take time away from actually making a knife
