What should I buy? SAK or Rough Rider

So I have a $50 gift card to the big river site and after some Simichrome and other tools I have about $25 left over. Should I get a Victorinox electrician to replace my last one or a Rough Rider sunfish, half hawk or scout knife or ...?

I've got some old scouts and a SAK farmer and a few Rough Riders already...

Heck I'll take other suggestions if there's a gem that you'd recommend.

You had a Vic Electrician, but not any more? I'd find it hard to be without my Electrician. But you do have a Farmer, so maybe replacing the Electrician isn't absolutely necessary.

Lots of nice Rough Riders available. I REALLY like a RR sowbelly stockman I have. I also liked a big RR toothpick I had, except for the fact that it had just one blade and I tend to prefer a 2-bladed knife. Just to show my inconsistency, my next Rough Rider will probably be one of their "work knives", a single-bladed linerlock version of a Sodbuster (I have a chestnut bone CV Case Sodbuster Jr. that I like far more than I ever thought I'd like a single-bladed knife). My RR Canoe is also a gem.

Colt makes a teardrop jack that I'm very happy with.

Almost all of the suggestions in this thread look pretty solid to me. I have a higonokami, some Opinels, a Case Peanut, SAKs of several kinds; I'd recommend any of them.

If you want smaller knife the RR small cokebottle is a nice knife. The sowbelly is my favorite RR.

Rough Rider Large Sunfish, smooth "tobacco" bone handle (it is actually more of a honey color, than dark brown) makes a great heavy duty EDC slip joint. While it is a large knife, because it is so thin, it has virtually no pocket signature. I've been carrying one for about 4 months now.

The Rough Rider electrician would also be a good choice, if you are looking to replace the one you had.

If you liked your SAK, then it might be a good idea to replace it.
Yet RR offers you the chance of trying a different pattern (and Buck might do the same).
But then again...why not an Opinel and a Mora? ;)

I look at this in two ways. One is discovery and the other is predictability. For discovery, I would get the Rough Rider Sunfish if you want something different. I have the Frost Sunfish which is likely similar and it is an okay knife for $10-12. For predictability, I would go with the Vic Sak.

I really like Vic SAKs for using. They have little appeal to me to place in a dresser drawer and not use (like some other slipjoints) unless they are a backup to your regular knife. My favorite SAK is the Adventurer (111mm) with the side lock. It is also one of the Boy Scout models. It has never failed me and I have four new ones in waiting to replace the one I carry if I break or loose it.

The funny thing about this post is it FINALLY clicked in my brain about the "big river" retailer. You all will probably laugh. A few months ago I read big river..... Columbia River, Mississippi River, Ohio River......?? and kept asking myself what retailer are they referring to and I started searching knife dealers. One of the mods "encouraged" me not to mention a particular knife dealer (you know the one in East TN) since they are not a BF supporting retailer and I suspect the A site is similar but becoming so common for most everything we buy online.
