What should I expect?

I would be getting it to be a user. That said, however, I am not afraid to put an expensive knife to good use, even if there are cheaper versions of the same knife out there. I know that once used, the value of the knife will go down and there will certainly be less expensive users available that likely would do 99.99% of the job that the one I would get can do, but I am not looking to make $ on this. I just want a few (well, maybe that should be a "few more" :o;) ) nice knives that I might be able to hand down to my kids someday.

If its for a user, then the 110 is your man-they dont get more sturdy-and you'll look good doing it. Good for you not being afraid to use a purdy knife:thumbup:

I called Randy at Buck Knives, the man who processes the custom orders for the CKS. He called back and left a message on my voice mail (paraphrased):

"Yes we did a limited edition of the 110 in Paua Shell with a Damascus steel blade and that was limited to 110 copies. As far as Damascus for a custom order, it is not an option at this time. We did offer that a while back, but the only options now are those listed on the web site, the 110 in S30V and three options in 420HC, the satin finish, mirror finish and black oxide. Those are the only ones available at this time."

I researched this because I'm soon going to order a CKS 110 in Sambar Stag and I wanted to snag a Damascus blade if indeed a few were available. Yesterday I mailed in my Lifetime membership application to the BCCI and I'm awaiting to see what things may be available through that source before placing my order. I'm inclined to focus my collecting on few rather than many, looking for some very special things like Sambar Stag customs and Damascus 110 with Paua Shell scales, though the latter will likely end up being a gift for the lady.

So I like the buck 110 alot and think its a quality peice of work. Unfortunatly, I'm not able to answer your question. I don't have alot of experience with quality knives. In face the buck 110 is probably one of the best folding knives I have and 30 dollars for it is the most I'v spent on any knife. So I can't help much.
