What should I get 1st a CRK Sebenza or a Strider SNG?

This is probably going to get heated. I have to say SEBENZA.
I love my SnG, but I really can't live without a Sebenza. I had to make this same decision a few years ago and I chose the SnG first because it just seemed like the "cooler" knife. When I got it I was a bit underwelmed but I warmed up to it, after a few months I bought my first Sebenza and I fell in love with it. Since then I have purchased more Striders and Chris Reeve Knives so whatever you choose, know it won't be the end.

What should I get first, an F150 or a Ford Expedition?

What are your needs?

I'd get the Seb first (I did) and then buy the SnG anyway (I did).

IF you get the small Sebenza 21, you'll want the large. If you get the large, you'll want the Umnumzaan.

Now if you get the Strider. you'll say, "Man this thing is stiff and I'll need to break it in.

Don't get me wrong. It's a beafy knife and I'm happy to have mine. But they are different, sorta like comparing a Samurai sword and a auto-reload bazooka.

I say Sebenza all the way.

if you put the hurt on your knives go for the strider.

if your tasks are geared towards slicing or general EDC get the sebenza.

What do you want to get ?

Honestly , different opinions are swell but , you are the one that is going to fork over buku dinero for one of the two.

They are extremely different knives , sharing little in common other than materials used.

Do you think that going with one over the other is going to get extra forum clout ? :D

What do you like better? An AK-47 or an AR-15?

I just covered all of my bases and bought a Sebenza, an SnG, and an XM-18.

Problem solved.

One for the rest of my life? SnG hands down

I got the large seb 21 first and I thoroughly enjoyed it but it didnt WOW me, probably because I had a Bradley Alias2 first and it is every bit as smooth as the sebenza. Sebenza is a nicer slicer though. I just recently got a Strider SnG with double gunner grips and a digicamo blade. Now that thing made my eyes light up and go wow. I am NOT saying it is better, I just havent had a knife like the strider and had similar knives to the sebenza. Go with your gut and know that is doesnt matter because in a couple days or weeks you will buy the other.

In less than a month I have bought 2 large 21's traded them both, have a small 21 coming tomorrow (will probably sell or trade it) because I just bought a small 21 micarta inlays today. Oh and dont forget the strider purchase I made last week. Sooo yeahhh.

Maybe get the seb first because it can be used anywhere and everywhere, the strider for some people is more of a certain duty kind of thing. If I wasnt trying to trade my SnG it would be in my pocket every day.

I bought a large sebenza first.
But it didn't change the fact that I want an sng as well.:)

I have both, like both, great knives but...If I could only have one folding knive it would be the large Sebenza.

I prefer the SnG. I think it feels better than the Sebenza in hand. But, that's purely a personal preference. Go with whatever you like more. One really isn't better than the other.

If you plan on getting the knife dirty, all you need is a hex key to take the sebenza apart. The SnG needs a specialized tool to take it apart and they prefer you to just spray it out with wd40. CRK doesn't mind if you take their knife apart, Strider discourages it. For me the Sng had better ergo's but the sebenza is put together like a Swiss watch. CRK customer service is easier to get a hold of in my experience. The SnG has a great heat treat for S30v.

I like my knives to have a rough military-likeness to them "tactical" if you just have to use that term. I will get crucified for this BUT I have never liked the design or looks of any CRK they just do nothing for me (that's just me). Strider on the other hand is just my style, so of course I say go SNG. But as mentioned before aside from materials the Strider and Seb are very different knives. Which ever one you are intrigued by more is the one you should get first.

The Strider is a country boy, the Sebenza is a city boy. Which fits your personality?

This is my perfect knife and fits my personality.

Depends what your intended use it. SNG is probably more suited to heavy duty tasks. I'm sure the Seb is strong too but if you beat on your knives, SNG is probably what you want. Keep in mind that the SNG is bulkier than the Seb.

Both are tough and strong knives. The sng is, built for abuse while the sebenza is built for precision performance. I have both and I can honestly say you cant go wrong here.
