What should I get

I personally prefer the 710, but that is MY preference. I love the blade shape, the handle shape,everything.
 
710-1401. I love the blade on the Contego but, for me at least, the handle was a mess. Never had that issue with the 710.
 
I recently purchased a Contego and I hate the handles on it so much that I am going to sell it. Its a shame because I really like the knife as the whole but it is easily the most uncomfortable folder I have owned.
 
Another vote for the 710. Nice looking knife.
The Contego is just too "busy" plus, I don't care for the blade style.
 
I love my 810, and have no issues with the handle. It's more of a rugged workhorse then the 710, but the 710 is a better slicer...
 
710-1401. Awesome knife in every regard!!
Heard many complaints re the 810......mainly uncomfortable in hand.

I have both (more precisely the kw exclusives) and can tell they are. very different knives. If it is for fondling, just pick the one that is more visually appealing to you. If you plan to use, well, it will depend on the intended use. 710 is slimmer, pointier, and lighter, so perhaps more edc friendly. There is another thread of 810 going on and it seems some people find the handle of 810 uncomfortable. I would also say so, as compared to 710.

I bought both for fondling, so not much of an issue for me.
 
We sell a lot more 710s than we do 810s. The irony is that right now we are out of stock on the 810s!
 
also, one more thing to consider is the recurve on 710. When it comes to sharpening, it is definitely trickier, more challenging, and more time-consuming than 810.
