What should I use to smooth the sharp brass edge on a bolster?

Isn't that bolster made that way to prevent the knife from sinking down through the sheath?

Poking a hole in the end?

Looks more and more like competition on edge rounding/chamfering ideas.
Geeee, it's only an edge of a brass bolster, not replacing engine valves through exhaust pipe.

That guard isn’t doing anymore to keep the knife from moving through the bottom of the sheath than the handle does. Rounding the sharp corner wont effect the sheath any I think.

Just a quick update. The brass was indeed soft and didn’t take much work to smooth out. I used sandpaper, followed by ceramic, to smooth that sharp corner. Electrical tape worked for taping up the blade. It took maybe 5 minutes of work. Thanks for the tips!
