What silly thing have you done that resulted in you cutting yourself???

I managed to cut myself a while back while trying to close a cold steel bushmaster folder; 7 stitches! Be careful how you hold those little beasts; i'm still a bit scared of that knife...

I was on a training mission with some of my troops. We were about 20 kilometers from the nearest road on a mountain summit in the Sierra Mountains doing some map and compass work.

We arrived at this remote lake so I had them take a break. While they were down refilling their canteens I pulled out my fixed blade sat down on a big rock and began to sharpen it.

I was pretty tired so I attempted to get the weight of my 80 pound pack off my back by slipping my arm out of one of the straps. I leaned up against the pack (which was still around one arm, so it wouldn't fall off the rock down the steep slope we just climbed). The pack slipped and fell about one foot. I was so glad I kept my arm in one of the straps!

Then out of the corner of my eye I see a red arch of blood. I had no idea I'd been cut. The pack pulled my arm I had the knife in which sliced a vein in my opposite wrist as I tried to keep from being pulled down the slope.

It was crazy how far the blood would squirt. The look on my face must have been priceless. I grab my wrist (direct pressure, elevation yada yada). Called the troops over and gave an impromptu lesson in a "real world" oh sh** moment. I was scared but as far as my troops know it didn't phase me.

I look at that scar all the time .. thank the lord I only nicked one vein. It could have been a lot worse.

I was cleaning some adhesive off of the edge of my eddleman flipper, and was in a hurry. I slid my thumb across it by accident and made a nice neat slice all the way across! I left a trail of blood from the closet all the way to the kitchen.(where the first aid stuff is)

jesus h christ! you people talking about stitches from folders and here I am machete cut to bone index finger wrapped in gauze and masking tape second guessing a trip to the hospital...

Cut myself pretty deep with my BM530 trying to open a damn lechee nut (something you can open with your fingers)... in Vietnam no less. Not the place you want to get an infection.

I just cut myself an hour ago cutting some glue off of plastic. I was being stupid and cutting with a paring motion instead of cutting away from me. My knife caught the plastic so I was stupid to use more pressure and cut the plastic instead of just scraping off the layer of glue. When I cut through it I didn't stop the blade because it had some speed behind it and it went straight into my thumb :(

Pressure from a handkerchief fixed the cut but I did bleed a fair amount

I have cut myself trying to rip appart plastic packaging because I was too lazy to grab a knife only to have the plastic rip and cut my hand. Plastic containers are getting worse all the time, now I take the time to use a knife instead of forcing to rip the packages with only bare hands.

twice in 4 monthes i received a package with some sort of new toy it ( don't remember if it was car parts or what) which involved cutting zip ties and i hurriedly cut them slicing my hand.

Another time i was sharpening my brothers kitchen knives and was tring to get them really sharp for the wow factor. The knife in questiion had about an 11" triangular blade 3"wide at the base (good sized kitchen knife) I put a pretty solid shaves in both directions edge on it and was just about finished. i proceeded to wipe the grit off on my pants leg by wiping the blade from knee up my quad when i mistakenly turned the spine outward as i brought the blade off my leg and the edge sliced through my pants leaving a 3inch long slice in my flesh.

After carrying a Strider SMF for 7 years, I carried a Hinderer XM-18 3.5" Spanto for three weeks while the SMF was at Strider for a 'tune-up'. The SMF has a very useful and 'safe' choil that I use all the time when choking up on the blade for delicate work. The Hinderer? I cut the hell out of my finger the very first time I choked up on it. Totally my fault but the Hinderer choil, in my opinion, is dangerous. Lesson learned!

When I was about 14 or15 I was riding in the back of an old Jeep wagoneer out four wheeling had a fixed blade knife with a loose sheath anyway IT FELL OUT and wedged in the seat then we hit a bump and I got stuck in the side of my butt cheek :) yes it required stitches lol

Shaved with my knife...
