what size arbor press? do you guys recommend and what all do you use them for - I've seen people mostly use the small ones (1-1.5 ton) but I have a lead on a 5 ton with some dies - but think it maybe overkill

thoughts ? thanks

If the price is good, I'd get it. They have all sorts of uses from stamping to flaring rivet heads. Bigger is usually better on these type tools. I think the 1 ton units are popular because HF sells them cheap.

I have the cheap HF 1 ton. I originally purchased it to flare eyelets in kydex. i bought a pair of the nicer dies from usaknifemaker and drilled a hold to accept them in the ram and in the turret. I drilled and tapped a set screw to hold the upper die. it works awesome for this purpose. I used to press eyelets in my drill press, and while it worked, swapping out the drill bit and dies was a pain. I have also made a set of flaring dies for tubing and it works great for that too. I have also used it to dome coins when making coin rings. I even used it for it's intended purpose recently. and pressed a bearing into a spindle i had to replace on my lawn mower deck.
