what size wood bandsaw would be at the very least to use for cutting up large burls, blocks and general use for cutting wood slabs into knife blocks/scales? thanks marekz oh ya and what is a resaw bandsaw?

I think you'ld be happy with what I bought after using an old Sears 3 wheeler for years. Look up the Grizzly 14" Model GO555. You can cut some pretty good sized Burls with it and if I remember correctly you can get an adapter for it later on which goes bigger. I haven't needed it yet.
I think you mean a resaw Blade. They are wide blades with few teeth. I use a 3/4" with 4tpi. I can rip a 1/16" peice of veneer with it. I'm very happy with it.

Well if its really big pieces that you have; my mother is selling my late father's sawmill soon I would prefer to see it go to a fellow knifemaker.

EDIT- saw the CT not the Ga part, my bad.

central machinery has one for about $329.00 at HF down the street. i wonder if that one has a riser option. it looks alot like the grizzly. any thoughts?-thanks marekz

SAWMILL that is an industrial machine right? WOW thanks for the offer but i dont think my truck will be big enough or even make to NY. peace--thanks marekz

The 14" Delta is the best you'll get without paying alot of cash.

If the 14" Delta isn't big enough, then start shopping used machinery sites.

:D Ooops, I did not mean to do that. Dang computers. Now that I'm here, I may as well add this... I don't have a wood cutting bandsaw. Would like to get one though. Right now all I have that will cut large thick blocks of hardwood reasonably well is a sawzall that I have mounted upside down to my table with the blade going through. Weird contraption, but it works.

I've got the same grizzly. It is an awesome saw. I don't regret buying it at all.
