I'm away from my shop for the day and want to get a platen on order.

Can anyone tell me if I need the 8 or 9 inch platen?

I could get by with the 8 inch, but would rather cover the whole mounting plate if possible.

Thanks,
BJ :)

I have an 8 inch on mine and it works just fine. One thing though, the first one I attached to the platten while it was off the machine, when I bolted it back on it shattered. The next one I attached while he platten was still bolted up, no problems that time.

It's a 9" but yes, epoxy (JB Weld) while it's on or the flex shatters them. Went through two before I figured that out :D

Don't clamp it when gluing. Clamping it will put a slight bend in the glass and pre-stress it. When you use it and the glass gets hot, it cracks. Use tape and plenty of JBweld. It's a great idea to put a little ledge (screw, weld spot, pins) to rest the glass on in case the glue fails. The ledge holds the glass in place (in theory) until the belt is removed and then falls off - hopefully.
