They're a bit over 1/8", but they can be widened with a burr to whatever size. The pinholes in the steel don't need to match the pin size you use, they just need to be bigger so the pin will pass through. The surface area on the scales is what holds the knife together.

Thanks got all that as this is not my 1st handle slabbing, but it is so far my 1st Fiddleback, awesome blade and cant wait to get the other sizes!.... changed to bolts and screws so the handle scales can be switched out for others, thanks Mike for the on the way gifting goods!
