I am setting up for my next fix (I am also selling a knife or two to afford these knives). I now have my Aurora - what smaller knife do I need as a companion and why?

Talk to me people - don't let a junkie go without his drug of choice.

Pics are good - reasons are great.

having owned no bark rivers, my opinion might not be worth as much as, say, big mikes :D, but here it goes. having seen alot of pictures and having handles a couple, i would go for the little creek. its been one of my grail knives for a while now, and for good reason. when i handled it, i noticed how sturdy it felt in the hand, especially for a three finger grip. blade profile also seems perfect.

What else do you want to do?
The Ptarmigan looks like a great skinner.

The Colonial patch is a great small knife design.

The Hudson Bay makes a great camp/large chore knife.

Then there's the KSF Machete and golok for big workers.

I was thinking of a smaller knife to ride shotgun on my Aurora sheath. But I have been eyeballing the KSS machete too!

When teaming up a set of knifes to work together I like to have tools with different blade shapes.

A knife with some belly like the Little Creek would complement the Aurora nicely.

Going it the opposite direction, a straight edged carver like the Lil’ Tusk would give you a very versatile wood working combo.

Just some food for thought. :D

I like to partner a Pro Scalpel II with my Aurora, though I do not piggyback them.

I also like the Pro Scapel. The 09 little creek has not come out yet. The mikro, and mini canadian, also looks good.

Yeah - these three I was looking at too.

I like Bill's suggestion - so I am pondering what would compliment the Aurora blade style best.

I may be buying many of them. ;) DAMN THIS BOARD!

*** edited **** I'm an idiot and didn't see you wanted BRKT only suggestions.

Since the Aurora is a pointy bushcrafter, why not complement it with something with some belly, like a Mini (or Micro) Canadian? The Mini Canadain was my first Barkie a few years ago, and it makes for a good pocket fixed blade. However, I am thinking of replacing it with something pointier like the Pro Scalpel, little Creek or Custom Pro.

Bark River makes so many cool little knives, it's going to be hard to choose...

-little creek
-mikro canadian
-kephart companion
-mikro tusk
-colonial patch knife
-mikro slithe
-trickle

That's what I do with my Aurora. Pair it up with a Mikro Canadian.

It depends how small you want to go.
For a medium size knife that would back up your Aurora in case you lost it
Ultralight Bushcrafter

If you want medium small:
Mini Canadian (I have this one. good for fine work and would serve well to skin small game)
Mini TUSK
TUSK
IMP (I owned one for a while and while it was too heavy for comfortable pocket carry, it would be an awesome backup to the Aurora
Bumblebee (not yet released)

For a very small but capable
Micro Canadian
Micro Tusk

So many knives ......so few funds

If your hands are large enough to need an Aurora then a Woodland might fit you better than a Little Creek or a Mini-Canadian.

It will be harder to piggyback though.
